what oils do people use in their disco's ive been on another forum and they sell evo oil for the gearbox and people reckon it improves gearshift etc etc i was just wondering if anybody else uses certain oils in their gearboxes engines etc thanks. joe

When I did the last gearbox oil change I went for MTF, which is what LR recommend now instead of ATF.
I have a R380 gearbox though, not LT77.

thanks budgie yes i have swapped my lt77 for an r380 and i havnt changed the oil in the box yet so i was finding out if its worth paying all the money for the evo oils advertised on another forum thanks. joe

I put the oils recommended by DIFFLOCK in my Disco with an R380 and it has made things a bit better when changing from first to second say. I'm not totally convinced that it's made things that much better to justify the expense.
After a 2 hour motorway run at 70 the gear changes seem a bit harsher so perhaps when they get hot they're not so great.
I would like to be able to say it's done all the things they claim but mpg just the same, still get the odd crunch into second and as I say when hot I think all gear changes are a bit harsher.

thats why i was asking coz i priced it up and it seemed quite a lot for oil as the gearbox/transferbox cans only come in 1litre bottles thanks for letting me know il prob just but some good qaulity oil from my local parts place cheers. joe

To be fair most people rave about these oils but I can only speak from my own experience. Check out the DIFFLOCK oil forum where they'll all say how good the oils are.
Bear in mind they last twice as long but I suspect I would have been just as well served to fit teh standard oils.
