Title: dont do it you,ll get nicked!
Post by: beast5680 on October 08, 2005, 14:26:41
Just been to the local Halfrauds as they were the only people locally with some red hammerite on the shelf i needed and while in there some of the local "yoof" loiter in and around the store. Then all of a sudden the stereo section goes on at about 130db deafening the whole shop and said yoofs wander out out again smirking
talking to the manager on the till i mentioned they must love it when that happens to which he replies "we have them arrested as its a shoplifting offence"  how come? apparently its a well known diversion tactic causing confusion so one of yoofs can leg it with some merchandise.
13 succesful prosecutions brought this year in that one store for it

so dont play with the radio,s you have been warned

But if you're a LR owner it is an essential test, to make sure you can here the stereo above the engine, gearbox, road, tyre and wind noise!!!

Boo Hoo Hoo and that reminds me that my CD player still does'nt work in the 90, got new speakers in and no sound at all. Any budding Radio people out there. Got power, CD works and plays just no sound even on the old speakers. Can't find any fuses to be replaced. Stumped ????

If none of the speakers are working, I'd guess the unit is playing up, or atleast something at that end. If it was wires/speakers then I'd expect some or all of the speakers to work.

Check the connections on the back of the Head unit, failing that can you borrow another head unit to try against yours?

As drum said, turn off the engine and try it.  Might be working but the engine/gearbox/diffs etc are drowning it out

Has it worked before?

I'm sure this doesn't apply but I'll say it anyway:

I had a friend whos stereo 'didn't work', and it turned out that after looking a various car wiring diagrams he had wired the speakers to the +'ive on the stereo (or mono in his case!), and then earthed them rather than using the-'ive on the speaker terminal on the back of the stereo.

I suspsect this to you is like teaching your Granmother to suck eggs, but just in case
