Title: Boot floor, extra panels
Post by: defuzz on October 10, 2005, 11:57:21
The time has come to get the boot floor replaced, unfortunately the side panels are rusted too:

(marked by the yellow squiggle)

The panles to the side of the floor panel, are they available as replacements or will they need to be fabricated from scratch?

Also does anyone have a diagram of where all the floor panels/crossmembers join etc

Well I made mine from some nice zinc flashed steel sheet (old computer casing) and some inch x inch angle steel with an inch strip on the downwards section to suppeort the new floor panel in the middle...

its a whole lot cheaper to buy the steel yourself (I did mine with 3mm mild steel....£0.00!!!!) and if you have a friend whos good at welding do the job yourself. The "crossmembers" are VERY flimsy and are held in with plastic nuts!!!! as far as I can remember there are 3 and they are spread out equally across the boot floor the steel that land rover supply as a replacement is like sodding tin foil and probs would not last ten minutes.Good luck.
