Title: auto conversion 200 tdi

:?:  :?: due to i'll health i would like to fit an autobox to my 200 tdi 90.
anyone done this? i would like to know what is required.

Mines a 300tdi auto, the guy who converted it used a ZF4 speed auto out of a Disco.  I believe the transmission tunnel may need alteration on a 200tdi.  The box does suit the engine though, can't fault it.

Ive got an auto box on my 300 disco and 300 defender /RR hybrid

AND I LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!

You'll need a tdi auto box (both 300 and 200 are the same) BUT the bad news is they are quite rare

I got mine off ebay with the engine

Its a dead easy conversion, bolts straight on and Im pretty sure the mouns for the gear box are the same.

The V8 autos wont work, they are valved wrong.

I'll keep my eyes peeled for a an auto box anyway

Oh and Ive used a 300tdi defnder tunnel, fits a treat and cost me £5 off ebay  :wink:

good to know the box fits with the 300 tunnel that answers one of my questions.
second question will the 300 tdi autobox fit a 200tdi without any mods or are they different as the lt77 and r380 are and is there a way round this.
thats really 2 questions isnt it!
i know the v8 box wont fit the output shaft is different which is a pity as my mate has a few lying around.

It doesnt matter about eh V8 anyway as its designed to change at different revs. Put a TDi on it and you'll be going no where fast as it will never get out of first  :shock:

The 200tdi and 300tdi both had auto boxes and as far as I was aware they were the same.  

Ashcrofts would tell you stright away. Ring them for a "quote" and they'll tell you for free all you need to know  :wink:

just of the blower to ashcrofts.not cost effective to convert 200 tdi too much hassle too many extra parts needed.
300tdi or td5 kit costs £2500 +VAT supply only.cost can be brought down by sourcing parts yourself .
looks like i'm on the lookout for a 300tdi engine and box then.
or sell the 90 and buy another with either a 300 tdi or td5

Put a 300tdi Auto in mine for £1100 and that included mounts, engine, gear box and whatever else I needed.

Seems DAM pricey!!!  I'll keep my eyes peeled for an engine and box.  As I said, mine was a 82,000 300tdi with all auxs and the auto box for £1000
