Why is it on a Q plate?
-
Colin,
I think you will find it will be EX MOD and will of been released from
service and registered for the road in 1991 that's why it's on a Q plate.

Thanks Paul, had an idea that might be the case. just needed someone else to say it.

15104226a
I may be wrong,
AFAIK 15104226 (without the A) would be a chassis number for a Home (i.e. UK spec) Series 2 109 Petrol manufactured in 1960
However, the A is a bit odd, this wasn't used until the introduction of the Series 2a in 1961....
But at this point, the start of the chassis number would have 24100001A onwards (or 25100001A for a 109")
All Series 3 chassis numbers start with a 9 (eg 90100001A for a 88")
In saying that, I'm not sure if military vehicles have a different numbering sequence.
Have you gone to www.rac.co.uk (or just click here: http://www.rac.co.uk/web/carbuying/vehicle_data_search;jsessionid=7BBD8F1164ECBE2B722CB012044CBA96) and entered the reg and see what info comes up.

if not to late try here  http://www.clifton.nl/?calvin.html
looks like Q plate due to being a mixa of series 2a and series 3 parts.
if you do homework right, maybe can get it registered back as a series 2 and get tax exempt
