Title: RR auto boxes
Post by: Charlie J on October 22, 2005, 20:18:56
I got two cars both with 3spd autos in, one is the 'normal' range rover box, the other appears to have had a series transfer box grafted on, has anyone come across this before? only that the car fitted with the series transfer box, the box is shot to bits and I want to fit a range rover box in it.......make any sense

Makes perfect sense, the series box isn't up to the job.  Why someone wanted a 2wd 3.5l Range Rover is beyond me, death wish perhaps?

you thinks thats bad, atm im running a rangrover in rwd because the viscous transfer box is stuck in difflock, so we have taken the front prop off because its got to be used as a daily driver and it was winding up, just that the engine is a nissan 3.5turbo disel and it has bags of tourque and um, lets just say roundabout are intresting!!!

I'm none too familiar with this, so it's actually possible to put a series transfer box on a RR 3 spd? I only ask because I'm just about to remove the 3.5 from the car and fit a 6.2 with another RR 3spd auto and I'm wondering now if the box will fit in place of the previous 3spd (it's in a coiler SIII at the moment.)
