I like the idea of an external cage for my Series, but would like to know where the front legs bolt to once they've passed through the wings. I know the same applies for 90s/110s so it's here in the general section.
-
I think the usual arrangement is to weld some big box section onto the chassis near to the outriggers and the downpipe lands onto that once again usually welded I think.
But no doubt someone with more experience will be along in a moment!

you have to make outriggers for the cage the come down on to & on my racer its 4x4 4mm thick box i think, hit it with a hammer & it rings
-
Its usually a standard set of out riggers with the cage welded onto it.
Mine are standard out riggers BUT i want make some nice custom ones likes Mikees so they also ring
Mine go...dud.
I need stronger ones!!!! I may just plate mine all over, I may re-do them. Not sure yet :?

hi,
this is a pic of a mates truck that has it come through the wing. The wing isn't here on this pic bt you can see the outrigger that the role cage goes onto with the piece of tube going up that at sloghtys onto.

Ash - I thought that at least for competition spec you alwys used beefy box section not standard outriggers and usually everything is welded in place (none of this slotting tube over tube).

I think for ARC (HENRY WHERE ARE YOU?????) it does have to be welded to chassis
The outrigger I think can be standard but dont quote me on that.
Certainly the sloted design shown would be acceptable. Mine is a slotted design but with two feet of tubing and then its welded.
I want to beef up my outriggers just for peace of mind!!
-
ISTR that you *can* use the standard outriggers, but that they must be strenghened on three sides and basically rebuilt out of much stronger stuff, same goes for the rear X-Member etc.
Then again, that was a couple of years ago. The green book should clear up any confusion mind.
-
Yeah I dont have mine with me.
Henry will tell you and its on the ARC website. Mine would fail I know that as I never did the strengthening struts.
Anyway, new outriggers going on mine hopefully next weekend so I'll check the book and (its blue now isnt it???) and I'll post the pics on MC.
Never can be too strong!!
The rear of my cage is welded with 6mm plate to the rear chassis. Thats is ARC correct I knwo that as I got it checked
-
hi,
in that pic he welds it on once he had done all the work so it dowsn't just sit on it!!"
if you want the arc ruler on their website the link is

Thats why I did tractorboy and thats fine
I think DrMike was worried it may have just been bolted, alot do that belive me!!!
-
if done correctly it can be bolted on & still be arc legal, also if done corectly it can be bolted on like how the yella truck is,needs correct bolts & internal spacers etc
-
Is it hard to put a roll over bar on a series truck cab?
I like the idea.
Is it worth just buying a ready made one then fitting or should i look into making one myself?
-
a series truck cab or 90 truck cab are a doddle to fit a cage to,
IMHO you would be better of buying a ready bent cage than trying to make yourself, ive assisted making just a back bar & unless you have access to a reasonable large flat area & also have had a bit o practise wioth the bender you can end up with lots of scrap pipe
-
Where's a good place to get a hoop from?
:?
-
tomcat motorsport are £400 ish kit form last time i looked,
theres QT services aswell,
-
look about on the for sales forum posts as well, or arsk, where i got mine from, okm, its not arc spec as the cross member doesn't go to the base however for club level and other such places it is fine and iv rolled my truck on it and it has been a god send, so easy to role back with?!!!
just get a lro mag or what ever and look through the pages,
you can see all the role cage adverts in there, north off road are new and do some ood deals i believe,
(soz bout spelling, been out wit agrics tonight and had to down a carling wth a raw egg in it and as im a ale drinker it not good, especially with 5 ales before and then 3 after, now starting to wish i hadn't hehe
