Has anyone come up with a decent mod for the interior lights on a disco 1 ? mine are so poor I am sure it actually gets darker when I switch them on !
I made up a set of 12 white LEDs on some veroboard to fit inside the assembly and it seems a little better but I am still not impressed. I did think about getting one of those small twin tube caravan flouresent lights but I dont really want a big thing like that in the motor.
Any ideas greatly appreciated.
Only driving during the day or carrying a torch are not valid ideas ! :)

I know you've tried LED's but haw about these ones (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/DISCOVERY-TWIN-LED-INTERIOR-LIGHT-UPGRADE-ALL-MODELS_W0QQitemZ4586022827QQcategoryZ31348QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem)?

I saw those on ebay a few days ago. The mod I fitted to the front interior lamp has 12 5mm superbright white LEDS so I reckon the 3 3mm ones would be dimmer.

Sounds obvious, but have you checked to see if you're getting 12v to the lights?
-
Yes, that was one of the first things I checked along with the earth and the wattage of the bulb too.

I assume then you are all not happy with them and I am not alone ?
Is the 300 series one compatible ?
-
yeah, dont buy the e bay ones they are garbage, better wi two candles!!!!!!---my discos the same, crap interior lights,so your not alone :D

I took inspiration for Tonka Toy but put two strip lights one each side mounted on the trim below alpine windows so much better when your looking for something in the back load space
I got them from Focus diy store a mod worth doing

I have a 300 and have no problems with the lighting, the only thing is if you drop something right under the dashboard (in the footwell) as there is a shadow.
You haven't added an area in your user profile, so I'm not sure if I can show you mine....
If your local give me a shout.

I am not local unfortunately, I am in Essex.
I have made a few searches on Google and apparently there is a small flouresent lamp that runs from 12 volts, it is bent round in a U shape so I am not thinking maybe that could be bodged into the existing hole for the interior light.

Thanks for adding your area in your profile
Your definately not local!
I'm haveing a pub meet up here on Wednesday, I'm sure someone will bring a 200, I will try to have a look how bad they are, and if it looks like they can be swapped.
I will let you know if I find anything useful.
