Hi Guys
Anyone know much about the Holden 308 V8 engines?

If I'm not mistaken, some ambulances had them in. Pretty quick I believe. Can any of our medical members verify :?

Not British ones, except perhaps some of the Chevrolets, but Holden is simply the Aussie branch of General Motors.
They build the awesome 'Vauxhall' Monaro

"Awesome" and "Vauxhall", words you seldom see together :)
(I had a couple of company Omegas a few years back...)

Well it's not actually a Vauxhall, apart from the badging
I almost bought a Omega 2.5TD CDX estate (the B*W engined version) before I got the Discovery.
My plan was for a big estate car (for the BWSOW) & a decent-ish 90, but we ended up with a Discovery & (at the time Volvo estate)

I had the Saloon. The Beemer engine was a dog in that detuned incarnation; underpowered. There was an "S" button on the auto box which I originally thought stood for Sport, but in fact stood for Smoke, because if you pressed it and booted the throttle, the cars behind you would disappear in a big cloud of it.
The engine is apparently capable of much more though, as Jeremy Fearn has won plenty of events sitting behind one, so I'm told.
I subsequently had the V6 for a few months whilst my Volvo V70 was on order, and that was also pretty underwhelming. The seat cloth was quite plush on the TD though.
