Ok, I know this was raised previously, but looking at one posting about help in getting out of trouble
Myself was out on Sunday for a couple of hours, and got stuck on a slope with the back end slipped, not dangerous, just stuck.
I was with someone as well, still recovered myself with a long winch pull
But, if you do go out, either on your own (which I admit I do myself sometimes on short notice), how about launching a list of contact numbers, with people who would be willing to go out and assist people with difficulties
Its alright having aa or rac or gren flag but if you are stuck up a byway, I dont think they would cover you :? :(
It would be helpful to some people, (me included, you never know when you might need help), whether its a public list or restricted in one way or another, depending on whether people want the phone number(s) posting

Top Idea!! although I suspect it would have to be a regional thing

Top Idea!! although I suspect it would have to be a regional thing
alot of things within the regiuonal reps are being addressed at the moment and ideas coming in, this idea has been sudjested and we are looking into it, and what may be required to achieve it and wether its viesable, we'll see, but remember rome wasn't built in a day
i/we welcome any ideas that everyone sudjests like this idea for the regional reps and/or yourselves. we can address these ideas and hopefully come up with the answeres, which may not always be the case unfortunatly  . the more ideas that everyone can sudjest, not just reps, the better chance of making this community/club better for all

One idea with the regional reps, would be good as with a local database for the areas, which could be requested by a member, and emailed to them, if they are intending on travelling/holidaying in another area

I think the RAC/AA/Green Flag have to still cover you by law, as a Byway is still a public highway! :D

Not right, I'm afraid - they will recover you from any sealed road, but not from any unsealed road, public or not. Rats.
However, as Chuggaman points out I guess they may entertain the concept if you're preapred to pay a little over the odds for the privilage.
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news!
cheers

Jake was recovered by the AA from a very much unsealed car park at Slab Common! I'm guessing the car park is not generally public access either.
Apparently, he was up for "recovering" the car if necessary :)

Not a 4x4 but the Green Flag I know down the road did a classic recovery a few years ago;
A brand new Vauxall Omega (2 days old) and the driver - guess the sex- didn't put the handbrake on, Green flag had a local diving company put the winch cable on as the car was 18' deep in the lake!
I guess a gentle green lane is easy compared to that?
