To get over copyright you have to either reduce/enlarge the original image by at least 10% or alter the original image properties (hue/saturation/balance) by at least 10% or state the images povidence or just a direct link from the original image location. The biggest problem occurs when you copy the original image onto your P.C. or website and claim it as your own to use as you please.
All of this depends, of course, on the owner of the original image finding out and being able to afford a lawyer.

I suppose if it came to the crunch! I am the new Owner of the said Vehicle! And he needs my permission to take pikkies of it?

O.K. .... lets do this the hard way then, mr Cocky!!!
At the time the picture was taken, the intellectual property was that of the vehicle owner, the vehicle being the main subject of the picture. This is irrespective of who currently owns the vehicle. The copyright lies, and still does lie, with the person who pressed the shutter.
P.S. I know I'm a newby and thias isn't meant to be the start of a flame war ... Just a bit of fun!
