Title: Safari snorkel...what do you silicone?

Hi guys,
             Had the snorkel on now for a couple of weeks, but my ITG air filter came yesterday so its now time to finish the job, my question is...
Which parts of the airbox do you silicone up? Obviously around the hole in the wing and where the airbox inlet fits inside the snorkel, does anyone reccomend doing anywhere else..ie the drain hole?
Also how the feck do you put the arch liner back on? when it came out most of the plastic plugs that held it in stayed in the wing. The inner wing itself isnt too bad thank god, just wondering how everybody else did it?

The drain plug will leak, so best seal it up.  Be aware that silicone may not stick well to the plastic, so a big gob of silicone is not the best way to go.  Best is to take off the rubber valve at the end, find something which fits the hole exactly, cap the end of the hole, and refit the rubber valve, to hold it all in, with plenty of silicone to make sure it seals.

The plastic rivets still in the wing should have been removed when you took the wing liner off  :wink:  They generally come out easily with a screwdriver and fine-nosed pliers - remove the centre stopper first, then the outer section comes out easily.  If you've bust most of them you'll need some new ones from your local dealer, they're not expensive.

If you're doing serious wading, you should also use silicone sealant to seal all the joints in your air hoses between the air box and the engine.  I did this and the engine ran fine under 2-3' of water.

Can't speak from experiance (no snorkel), but this months LRO have just fitted a safari snorkel to their project Discovery, and they go through the whole lot step by step, silicone and all.

Might be worth a quick trip down to WHSmiths for a read before the new one comes out (soon!).

Thanks for that guys, will send 'er indoors' out for a copy of the mag...and a rubber wine cork for the air box.
