Title: Swollen fords
Post by: V8MoneyPit on November 07, 2005, 15:44:56
Out laning yesterday and the first ford we came to was higher than I've ever seen it. In the distance you can see the 'river' divided by some greenery.... the water to the left is the road with the river to the right! Looked about 3-4 feet deep in the middle. We decided to give this one a miss

Previously, it's never been much over bumper depth. Strangely, another ford later on was about normal depth.

It's funny how this can happen isn't it .. why it always pays to check depth ! the 3 or 4 fords in Alconbury (Cambs) usually have less than 3" in them, but can flood to 6 foot in a few hours and be down again the next day. Unfortunately these are being closed next year by Environment Agency 'improvements' to help prevent flooding elsewhere. Humbug :(
