I've been looking at a 2000 TD5 ES auto Disco, the mileage is 80,000.
Should I steer clear, or would I get a few more miles out of it?
It has a FLRSH and the asking price is £10k
What are the service intervals, when would the next BIG one be due?
I've had quiet a few tdi's, but never a TD5 is it worth the extra cash? (my other option, dare I say is a 270ml cdi)
What do you think ??
Thanks.

Well, it's not that easy to tell, as not that many have hit astronomical mileage yet, but mine is getting to 72K right now (I bought it at 36K) and it seems to have plenty of life in it.
I doubt it'll make 250,000, but I'm hoping it'll still be clattering along in 150K.
However, you might find that for £12K you can get a much lower mileage one. Mine cost me not much more than that when it had 36,000 miles on it. I'd say it's worth the extra for a car with a lot less wear.
Watch out for the head gasket, by the way. They're not too much of a disaster, but if the vehicle is suspiciously cheap, that could be why.

By the way, service interval is 12,000 miles, not sure which the biggies are but 72,000 is quite a big one so hopefully not for a while.

My Td5 Disco went to 148K without any problems. Depends on the actual engine, service history, etc.

Slight digression on vehicle mileage.
One of the Porters at the Hospital also works as a Taxi driver (black & whites)
He had a 'N' plated Astra, that had covered over 350,000miles on original (Isuzu) engine & gear-box before he replaced it a few years ago.
Its successor is another Astra; a 'Y' plater, now with almost 370,000miles & no major problems, just routine servicing
He also said the 'N' is now on about 500,000 in the hands of the mini-cabber who runs it now
Not bad for a 'run of the mill' car is it?

A colleague at work runs an N plate 1.7TD Cavalier - that's done over 300k now, still on the same engine and 'box; it's had 2 new clutches, regular (home) servicing & belt changes......and it's still going strong.
His plan was to run it until it died, and then use his other car for work (A6 2.5 V6 Tdi Avant - nice !), but the Cav refuses to give up !
We reckon he should donate it to Vauxhall's museum, and ask for a new one - free, of course !!

my 200 tdi discovery is 2400000 miles and still going strong. very impressed :D :D

i serviced a 110 on an h-wac plate with 300k on the clock with original g box & engine
regular servicing does wonders
Ps just cos it has a FLRSH doont trust it,seen some with a fully stamped up book by LR & it needed £400 of work to fix the stuff they had missed
