Title: Rear Passenger Door Locks
Post by: Bush Tucker Man on November 11, 2005, 19:55:08
I went to pick 'Small-Child' up from ballet this afternoon, as we approached I 'plipped' the alarm-remote as normal.
On trying to open the rear-near-side door the handle pulled, but it stayed locked.
It was 'persistantly precipitating it down', so I just threw her in through the off-side.

Once home I tried locking/opening a few times.
It still stuck

Child-Lock in use in that side

By manipulating the inner handle (even though it can't open it) the outer handle allowed me to open the door.

Do I
Need to take off the door-card & have a 'root-about' in there.
Is it simply a lazy solenoid (it did for a few days when I bought it in Dec 2002)
Is the linkage possibly damaged

Suggestions on a post-card to the usual adress

could be a few things

I would take the door card off and check the linkage Bend the rod from the solinoid to take the' Slack ' out

Then check the solindoid but it could be the spring in the catch se ebag for them I have fitted two right pain in the bum to fit

Well she kept talking all the way home, so the top half's functioning normally

I had a look, haven't removed the trim, the top button isn't rising up to the top.
Well, it does, but if the external handle is operated, it sinks slightly & won't open the door

If the internal button is held up, it functions normally

Exactly the problem I have, by the sounds of it! It does it on the drivers door and the nearside rear. I have to unlock with the remote and then put the key in the lock and push the button up a bit more before it will open

Haven't investigated yet as I don't fancy the potential job :(

I had that on a previous disco of mine, i removed the door card and wd 40,d all the linkages, problem cured i think it all dries out after a while and just adds a bit of resistance to the linkage
