I've got 35" Procomp X-Terrains on the 110, and last time I was out I found a distinct lack of grip, on some muddy sloppes, so I'm contemplating airing down tomorrow when I go and play at Whitworth. So I've gone as far as buying a tyre guage but, what should I air them down to??
I was thinking 20 psi, does that sound about right?
-
If you are running them tubeless, and / or don't have beadlocks, then I wouldn't go much below 20psi
See how it goes.
-
i agree with tim, regularly air my sats down to 12psi (or less) as i have tubes in them
-
air down if you want but procomp x-terrains don't do mud very well .....i have had this tyre on one of my wranglers......
peter henry

No tubes or beadlocks at the moment. I'll try a minimum 20psi then unless it looks really squichy at that.
-
I went to 20 on BFG's at J33pfest 2003 I recall
Mixture of mud n rocks

Bu%^er!!

I'll be airing down tommorow by about a third. Will have my compressor aswell
-
Third sounds about the same, I have a little compressor, bought years ago, that should reinflate them while I have a burger :D
I wonder how much a 35" Simex is for each corner
-
If ya need to ask ya can't afford
They are supposed to be hell on the road. You can buy copys now from Bronco.

Would that be the Silverstone Extreme?? Ooh even those are £150 a corner!!, and I'd want a set of rims to put them on, so that I could have reasonable road manners during the week.

So pretty much the price of the Simex, and it's a remould :?

I dont think it is a remould, the king offroad ones are.

It's in the 'retreads' section of Bronco's site... I was assuming that it was.

I suppose i could be wrong (It happens occasionally  ), but i don't think I am.

I don't think the Silverstone is a remould either - the King one is.
-
Just out of curiosity can anybody post links to any of these tyres with pricing, I'm getting really confused.
-
King offroad you will get from Simmonites, they are remoulds, you know about silverstone already..
-
Okay, they'd have to be pretty cheap anyway as I'm not spending silly money on tyres to use a couple of times a month, and it'll be a complete pain in the preverbial changing them every weekend.
-
Drum, just let em down and see...Frickley is slippery though! I have my bfg's at 16 and they ran fine both on and off the road...didnt go in that bombhole on the second day though.
The King tyres are rated to ...wait for it....60 mph which makes em illegal for use on your motor! I think the ones from bronco are in the same boat. And they both cost the same as simexes so you'd be daft to.
-
60mph!!! They'd be illegal on just about any motor then!!
-
YUP! so unless you fancy a very aggressive 2cv or trailering your 4x4 everywhere i wouldnt bother
-
Still beyond me why people who take their motors offroad use tubeless, too many times have i seen them 'pop' off the rims after hitting a little ruck.
I have been known to drop my tubed tyres as low as 12psi and lower if needed, depends on the tyre and the terrain.
Not against tubeless just not a fan of them.
