Recent Events of a rolled 90 at another club's event (I won't name names but she's on here aswell :D ) Has got me thinking about safety.
Ideally I'd fit a roll cage, but that's atleast a grand, and I'm not spending that just before xmas etc. However another concern is load security. I carry a big heavy wooden chest in the back of the 110, and now a tool chest aswell. I figure the two options are bolt these down. Or build a secure cage around them.
My thoughts are that bolting them down could be inconvient, and doesn't cover the shackles and other possible projectiles that inevitably get thrown in the back on play days.
However a Decent quality dog guard, and window guards, would make a decent cage and atleast minimise the chances of anything flying around near the driver or passengers.
Any thought anybody?
Anybody know of a source for a decent strong dog guard for a 110 defender (54 plate)?

I use MOD tie down brackets and some ex MOD straps that you first slide tight then an overcentre type handle pulls them realy tight. My toolbox, along with my rope bag, that also contains shackles has stayed put during a couple of rolls this way.

That's an idea, and I suppose quite flexible cos you can strap most things down. Thing is I'm a lazy bugga and If I've used a shackle or some kit out of the box, I'll just lob it in the back, then wash it all and put it away when I get home.

Well from my trailling days comes a tale of woe,
Thorverton about 5 years ago, bobed shortened front rangy, but with tru - tracs front and rear. The owner drove up through canes with ease, past No1, rather than reverse down, he thought he would continue up hill in woodland, then to my surprise, decides to turn around. First attempt, 2 wheels of ground, but turns into problem, and wheels go down again, He then has another go "DOH", it rolls, and rolls, i reckon 6 times, stops against a bunch of hazel trees, lucky, as if he had missed them, 200 yrds of down hill before he would stop in the field. The injurys, damaged wrist, from going outside of door, or steering wheel, and, a nasty blow to the head, this from the battery in pickup rear, which broke free, went through rear perspex window, and hit him in the head. The fire extingisher also went out of drivers window.
The quality of his home made roll cage saved the day, the windscreen didnt even break.
I bought the rangy of him, as he hasnt trailled since, i dont think.
