Title: cross member on 90
Post by: timberdog on November 14, 2005, 22:02:05
A mate of mine has asked if i can sort the welding on the rear crossmember on his 90.

Can you buy new crossmembers?
How do you remove the old one?

you can buy one from any of the parts suppliers in the mags & my fav way of removal is the gas axe,if not a 9inch grinder helps, there was a discussion here not long ago bout rear X members

When cutting, be very careful not to slice through the wiring loom which runs down the chassis rail inside... you won't be happy ;-)

To weld the new one back on, I cut a couple of holes in the rear floor above the chassis joint so I can weld from the top and make a better job, then just put some nice plates back over the holes.
