can anyone tell me what the height difference is between a 235/85/16 bfg mud terrain and 35 12.50 r15 procomp mud terrain i know its a big tyre but what is difference in height it will lift truck diffs from deck compared with the bfg regards colin
-
Colin approx 2.5 inch ....but will lonly lift diff by half of that ofcourse...have you changed your gearing...it helps BIGTIME!
-
i just fitted 36 inch tyres
but in reality they measure a little less
more like 35
metric size states 315 x 80 x 15 inch
same with my 33 inch tyres
more like 32
you will get more clearance under your diff.
but it will be half the size of the height difference between the choice of tyres

i think that a 235.85 is a bit less than 31" in diameter
35 will be about 34"ish
so allowing for tyre pressures the diff will probalby be around an inch and a half or so higher off the ground.

thanks all :D

More like just over 32"

He he, sad aint it

235/85/16 have a diameter of 806mm
35 12.50 r15 have a diameter of 877mm
So the difference is 71mm (this is for Goodyear MT's.)

*That* is the key phrase. Different tyres of the same quoted size will have different overall dimensions due to the differences in the tread patterns / construction.

I can tell you all one thing, Ive got 275/65-16 Anacondas on the zook and they measure about 32 inch diameter. Ive fitted Bullys 35's for a trial fitting, and they make my Anacondas look like pram wheels!!
Dont make an expensive mistake. 35's are BIG. Wheelarch eating, axle breaking, diff crumbling huge tyres.
Just my 2 cents worth

so if i put a 5 inch lift kit 6 inch gas shockers and a set of wheel spacers with devon arches should be ok :D and do prop and radiuse arms :D :D
-
i aggree with rollasuzuki
35's will be an expensive mistake
i was advised that 33 12.50s were as nig as you could go without causing major problems
with decent suspension fitted my 33's scuff the inside of the rear arches
and thats after the outer wheelarch has all but been removed all the way round
btw - speak to gwynn lewis, he sorted my rims with big offset to avoid the cost of them wheel spacers

Centre of gravity will go up , making it easier to roll over!

C of G go up....yes but with wider tyres and more offset.....not a lot in it to be honest!

This site will give you some info.

Overall they are 4 inches wider Maximum
to be fair you need at lest 3-4 inches lift to stop em rubbing on full compression.
tip the car on a side slope, Its gonna be 2 inches wider(ie2 inches each side giving 4 inches total), and its gonna be 3-4 inches taller.
OOps, rools over more easily.

Don't forget to replace your Prop shafts, drive shafts, hubs etc with all that extra work they'll be doing too.....
So, shopping list so far is....
Re-gear (~31/32s to 35s will ruin your top gear and fuel consumption!)
Susp lift and all the crap that goes with it
Radius arms if you are going that way
Body lift
Cut arches
Very wide flares
wheel spacers or higher ofset wheels
the tyres themselves
Uprated Props
uprated drive shafts
Fused or uprated hubs
missed anything?
Quite a project.....
But well worth it I reckon.....!
Good Luck
