Title: Big Day Tomorrow
Post by: Bush Tucker Man on November 16, 2005, 22:36:13
MoT test.

I'd forgotten about it & thought it was in December, the actual expiry date is Saturday 26th.
So I booked it in with the 'WYMAS' garage this afternoon.

If it passes, this will be the third in a row in my hands.

Well I put mine in last week so I could get a list of jobs to do.  I knew it had flaking rust on a body mount, and a split in the floor on the transmission tunnel, I wasn't too happy with the brakes.

It failed on emmissions !

NEw set of plugs (one was miss firing) and hey presto, I now have an MOT to 5th December 2006 !

What other car would pass with that lot !

Good luck there Matey, but I dont reckon you will need it !

Peter

My thoughts exactly, I'll have a word with John (the Vicar) in our Chapel this afternoon

Is it too late to cross my fingers for you?

Will the dreaded deed have been done by now?

<said with crossed fingers just incase>

Not at the time you typed, but by now it is.

Dropped it off at the WYMAS fleet garage (West Yorkshire Metropolitan Ambulance Service)
at 13:30 on my way in.
The garage is in our grounds, so it was a pleasent walk up in the sunshine watching the Steeplejacks on the Boilerhouse chimney.

Nipped out for a few minutes about 16:45, as they'd said they either ring before 16:00, or come after half-past.

Let me tell you, it was a good thing I'd been to the bank this morning & asked the cashier for some money.........................

It was an expensive day for a parsimonious Yorkshireman!!

Oh dear :(  Was it anything serious, or a collection of bits and pieces?

I walked in & there on the desk was a big PC printout of about 3 pages

All I can say when I was given my bill was it's a damn lot of of money

Bloomin' expensive those pieces of paper with a VIN, an expiry date & a signature.

£35.00 it cost me

Much to my surprise (& great relief) It Passed \:D/  \:D/  \:D/

All the preparation I did was;
Pressure wash the wheel-arches & as much of the underside as possible (3 tokens) before the garage chucked me out
Check, & top up, the oil.
Called at the main dealer in Wakefield (Guy Salmon) & bought a new air-filter to help with the smoke/emissions test.

I'm glad I did going by the state of this (less than) 9,000 mile old  example

Shows how grotty the roads are in this area :?

Now all I need is to sort out the RFL before the 31st & I can actively hunt out a CSW  :D \:D/

The PC printout wasn't mine thankfully, but I did see it was for £500+ on a 2002 Citroen
