If you mean while parked up on the drive, run a power lead from the hous and put a thermostat contrilled little heater in the motor, leave it on low and you have a nice warm, defrosted motor
You can get the little blower heaters but they are mainly for demisting the windscreen

I got a spare one! that was in my 2a when i bought it! it was wired in so i cut the wire! hence no lighter plug! and i havent tried it? so if you want it untested! Its yours!
-
cheers mate.......i might take you up on it....i need something to keep the chill out. 8)

My 90 and my disco both heat up in next to no time. Is your thermostat OK?
-
it does get warm but takes along time.it does seem to run very cool though. i have never seen the gauge above quater. and that is when towing our caravan up a steep hill.
runs very nicely. might be worth checking the thermostate do u think?
-
I would say so mate. Mine is starting to blow warm(ish) air after the first five minutes. Takes ten minutes or so to get really hot. Both motors are the same. The disco also runs about half way on the gauge so I'm thinking yours is probably running a wee bit cool. Land rovers do tend to be a bit "over cooled" so a sticky thermostat will never let it get warmed properly, they do have to be capable of towing a trailer across the sahara after all, even if not everybody wants to do it!

In winter my lightweight 2 1/4 hardly need the electric fan on at all, no mechanical one fitted.

Hi Den,
I've got one of the little 12v heaters, and to be honest it's just enough to stop the Penguins nicking your clothes - but no more.
I often have a luchtime nap in my car, and it's the difference between shivering too much to sleep, and being able to doze off.
I wouldn't say it warmed the car up much though!
Alaric.

I had one of these in a previous car when my heater matrix blew.... ork ok ish nothing spetacular just dont make the mistake of putting it under the seat to blow air forwards like it did, the little heater melted its own casing.

Dont bother mate they are utterly useless specially if you have even the slightest draught !
Buy a coat, much more efficient !

ive read horror stories where these heaters have melted the interior due to being left on and going mental
if you have the money put an eberspacher in (its fuel-powered and apparently is the dogs danglies
personally
get aircon ;)
ive got climate control, give it a couple of mins and i cant hold my hand next to the outlet!
well i can now cos the gearbox has died but thats another story

Here's an idea Den...get a Pajero (or a Shogun)...
The heaters in them are great!
-
I've been having trouble with my heater just recently too - it took ages for any heat at all to come out, then it came out full heat!?
The expansion tank always looked OK, but ensuring it was topped up sometimes helped. On Friday, I took the plastic filler plug out (on the thermostat housing?!) and ended up pouring quite a few pints in  It's much better now!
I suspect I need to check/overhaul my cooling/heating system

Seeing as we are all complainig about heaters, I have to tell you, mine is red hot, warms up really fast, but, before you all start calling me defamatory names, I have to say I have no blower fan, it started vibrating and now it doesnt go at all.
So its
Hi ho, hi ho, its off with the facia I go ! ](*,)

Peter, You're missing the joke, Denviks was a Paj driver that turned to the Solihull side....
Let him "Freeze in hell" is a good term :) (Hell being a Landy)
(Joking... before I get ripped to shreds)
Seriously, check all the things mentioned above.... 'specially the pre heaters....

See, I knew someone would get the joke...
Besides: And isnt a pajero what land rover owners use as wheel chocks ?
- Do you mean that a Landy needs a Paj to stop it rolling out of control down a hill?....
Lets not go there again...
-
I have a series 3 diesel and its like a fridge in the morning. You scrape the windows out side and inside aswell. Now that heater takes some getting warm....

Try Kenlowe's mains powered one. It heats everything up on the driveway.
