Finished todays work somewhat earlier than planned this morning, so took a trip up to the local farm shop to stock up on local produce. On the way up the dual carriageway spotted a landscapers LDV well bogged down on the southbound 'hard' shoulder.
Made a mental note to slow down on the way home and see if it was still there......it was, buried up to the axles in soft goo. Seeing as the sun was out, and it wasn't raining I pulled over in front, but kept all 4 wheels on the tarmac - you should have seen the look on the two landscapers faces, happy would be an understatement !
Hooked up the short Yellowstrap (3m) using rated shackles, told the driver of the LDV not to try and steer but to let the van follow me out onto the tarmac, and to hoot once he was on the solid stuff. Pulled away nice and slow, and it was as if there was nothing attached to the 110 - it was sooooo easy 8)
Had a quick chat with the two guys whilst packing up the gear - they'd been stuck for over an hour, and several people had slowed to look, but none had stopped - miserable g1ts !. They couldn't thank me enough, I said no worries, just don't get it stuck again :wink:
It only took 5 minutes, having done it once, I'm now more likely to stop and help someone in a similar situation.

Ah yes, seen that one - real or posed, and why drag it out through the snow when it could have been pulled forwards quite easily (or so it would appear !)
I did think twice before stopping, and when I'd stopped I had a good look around the LDV, and removed all the tree stakes that the guys had been using as a form of 'matting' to try and get some traction :shock:

I always try to help out whenever possible, as some situations are just plain scary, others just annoy you as people are too indifferant to help
