As it used to look.
Found in Haywoods Heath.
:D
Reminds me of my childhood.
I remember going to the Kingston one with my Dad when i was 10 to buy a new bike.
I wanted a Grifter but my Dad wanted me to get some new fad thing called a BMX.
I wanted the Grifter.
3 weeks later ET came out.
All my mates got BMX's.
How sick was i!!
-
I wanted a Grifter...... but was too young..... I had to settle for a Striker! in green.... those were he days!
-
Jake! looks like you have been pretty busy lately? Camera in hand??
-
I got a Grifter when I outgrew my Striker!
The shop photo reminds me of the days of the old Thames Television photo of St Paul's reflected in the Thames.

I remember the Wakefield Halfords in that insignia as well, and it displaying the Chopper when it was new.
Grifters were available in silver & then red.
I also remember a good friend getting a Raleigh 'Silver Jubilee' from there
-
oh the chopper now your talking i had one of them and a bought a 8 foot fibreglass car whip and stuck it on the back rest. and i had a look at the "new" chopper the other day and its not as good as the old one it dont even have the three gears with the gearlever mounted in front of the seat

There's a testicle-related reason for that.
-
true it did hurt when you ran into something
-
all your mates got BMX,s and could do tricks + stunts but your poor old grifter took 3 people to lift it as it was so heavy!!!!!
Main reason being that huge great STURMEY ARCHER(now there's a proper name you don,t hear anymore)3 speed rear hub!!
Think you,ve started something here jake ole chap!!!!!
spangles/pacers/marathon/star bars/wimpy.......hmm now i,m hungry!
-
Next thing you know someone will mention the Pepe keyring fad that went on!!
-
even worse the GROLSCH bottle tops on shoes!!
-
oh...........and the countless numbers of VW that lost their badges!
-
:(scared):
Was'nt me your honour.
-
All the girls wore black and white striped tops or pants and leg warmers.
Most of the lads had florescent green socks.

I wore fluorescent orange on one foot, fluorescent green on the other... Hmmm. And what was that thing about wearing t-shirts on top of long-sleeved shirts?

I still do that.

-
when were you in haywards heath then? its about 5mins from where i work :D
-
Friday.
I had to deliver to the Nufield Hospital.
We stopped in the town for a Tacho break too.
Just in time for the Burger/kebab joint to open
Question.
Is there anywhere around there that is'nt double yellow's??
I thought i was in London for a while.
Its hard to park a 17 tonner in a town
-
not that i know of  traffic wardens are an a*$e as well round there only place you can park is by the cemetry at the top of the high street but chances of getting a space are remote to say the least

Unforunatly these two go together, if there are no yellow lines, then there will be cars instead.
