Post by: wibble on November 26, 2005, 20:52:15
I know that i'm going raving mad, but... i have just bought a TD5 disco (manual), andi've never had a 'fly by wire' vehicle before and its doing some thing thats a tad distracting..  when i put my foot on the accelorator there is about 2" of 'play' where nowt happens, then the juice kicks in and off it go's. is it normal?  ](*,)

yes BUT it may have the wires on the hi/lo sensor fitted incorectly from factory so can muck up the sensitivity of the throttle

Mine did that

I disconneted the battery while fitting something and when I reconnected it about an hour later it was fixed.  The guy at landrover looked at me funny but said the ecu trys to set to your driving style and I must have reset it.

The funny look did make me feel like I had got it wrong!

I've not noticed any great slack on mine but I'll have a look.  Maybe the pots are calibrated wrong on yours?  The usual complaint with the TD5 throttle is that it's too sensitive, but I find after stalling a few times most people get the hang of it.
