Title: I Might Be Gone A While. Version 2.0
Post by: Bush Tucker Man on November 29, 2005, 08:50:28
Things are coming to a head, ever since I had this PC problem (http://forums.mud-club.com/viewtopic.php?t=12506), I've been on 'borrowed time'.
Now I keep getting the pop-up about the network I'm connected to is closing down & I'll hazzard a guess at Wed 30th November?

So with a PC that absolutely refuses to upload the new modem drivers I'm basically stuffed!!!

It gives me; 'BitMap Error'

Oh well, it's been good fun on here

The original 'I Might Be Gone A While' (http://forums.mud-club.com/viewtopic.php?t=2010) was due to our house move in May 2004

Richard, do you use any of the AOL specific stuff? If not, you should seriously consider finding a new ADSL / Broadband supplier! Just not BT   (my personal opinion)

My suggestion would be Eclipse Internet (http://www.eclipse.net.uk) :)

Well still here today...
What will tomorow bring???

Is there a site that allows you to compare BroadBand suppliers??
(we don't want a 'limited monthly download' provider)

Thanks, I hope you liked it, let me know your favourites.
There's a few of Bishop Burton & Market Weighton on there.
It was quite late when I took those, so (sadly) decided against continuing onto Beverly for the North-Bar, the old convent & the Minster.
Couldn't remember how far it was from Bishop Burton as well
I'll make time to go.
There's about 2years worth of work on there, for example; When I went to Bishop B, I took over 100 images between leaving & returning home, I think about 10-15 were used  - I'm a bit picky what I use

Oh, I'm still giggling at your assumptions :(biglaugh):  :(biglaugh):

It made my day, just like today when I gave my site address to one of the Charge-Nurses & he said;
"Ooh aren't we clever!, being able to set up your own web-site"
Oh yeah!?, as Wayne Campbell once said; "And Monkeys might fly out of my butt"

Well there is, but they're probably the scanned images, which are dependant on the print quality (plus it was my old decrepit scanner, not the new one)
Some are excludable on technical merit/framing issues, but I've decided that the subject matter overrules that factor

I do however try to use a striking image (be it due to colours, or whatever) to start each album

I could name some bad ones (in my opinion);
Out of focus (http://community.webshots.com/photo/79656053/96555644LAJMjV)
Too dark (http://community.webshots.com/photo/91474371/134612448RaBink) (scanned print)
Out of focus (http://community.webshots.com/photo/97182853/102002307NWRTiV) (scanned print)
Out of focus (http://community.webshots.com/photo/97498201/97498201RNYYxb) (scanned print & a definate colour cast)
too bright & poor framing (http://community.webshots.com/photo/156662918/157975325FCkJOL)

.............................. You get the idea

I still (after all this time) sometimes treat the digital camera as thought it's on 35mm & only take a couple of images.
Why? I don't know, as it's got enough memory for 1,130 images

These are probably some of my favourite images
HolmeMoss snowy sunset (http://community.webshots.com/photo/238135174/238135174eHaLYJ) (it's a wonderful location as well)
Millenium Sheep (http://community.webshots.com/photo/173144773/279153049HkGeEW) (makes you simply smile)
Devils Bridge (http://community.webshots.com/photo/167613101/168492641jzbtjR) (legend meets beauty)
Walton Canal (http://community.webshots.com/photo/140724381/140959546zIAfin) (because it's not the thing that manypeople would notice, even locals)
MarketHall Interior (http://community.webshots.com/photo/135300411/138092991fAljfJ) (beautiful Victorian cast-iron)
Cad Beeston (http://community.webshots.com/photo/138111242/298438608SGPdIO) (so unexpected, as it's surrounded by countless late 19th & early 20th century terrace housing)
Victoria Cross plaque (http://community.webshots.com/photo/333762796/333766147vdQNMn) (what do I need to say?)
Returning To Nature (http://community.webshots.com/photo/344259581/394876776yIMYQy) (it looks like it belongs there)

Sorry to drag it on, but it's taken me a lot of miles & a long time to gather them to share with you all

I stick to my original suggestion that they are all good, everybody has the odd bad shot, so your pictures are still good in my eyes

Point taken Tim
I named 5 out of almost 1,925 images, so it's not too bad then

(Just browsing around, so I've added to this one)

Mmmm, the problem seems to have resolved itself, but I'm still not getting the advertised full 2Mb speed.
(not too bothered, as I don't download music, or video)

Hi BTM ... hope you dont mind but I've had a play with a couple of the images that your unhappy with to "clean them up" a bit.  The Diso one has been done 50/50 to better show the effect.  If you want them done properly, just shout.

No offence meant.

Absolutely none taken.

I do have abetter image (http://community.webshots.com/photo/283075273/1394149109047309372YnocgP) of the Church, call me fussy but I just don't like to alter the contents of an album once it's full.
The Discovery images look a tad more 'muted'
