i am going to centre parks up in penrith next week with the family . for the first time. any one been to recommend any thing in particular. both kids are teenagers all they want to do is quad bike and paintball

take your bikes cos its quite hilly!
and your trunks cos all swimming is free!
and loadsa money cos it aint cheap! ;)
its worth shopping in the supermarket in penrith before you go in cos that will make things loads cheaper.

There's Greystoke Castle. Quad bikes there. Plus off road buggies. I think you'll get the info at Centerparcs. There's a paint ball place at Aspatria, near Wigton, on the Maryport road. Go kart racing at Maryport, West Coast Karting, and THAT is good. :D I take it by next week you mean Monday? With a bit more notice I could have got you more details. I've to go to Manchester early in the morning, 3am, :( so will not be on here till Sunday night.

Can I assume that you'll be travelling via the A59 & then the A65 from Skipton??
I can recommend a visit to Keswick, it's a beautiful little town on the north-eastern flanks of Derwent Water.
It has the added attraction of the 'Cars Of The Stars' (http://www.carsofthestars.co.uk) museum & that has a wonderful collection of iconic cars, such as;
General Lee (genuine studio car)

3 BatMobiles (TV, Michael Keaton & Val Kilmer)

He he. I was gono bring you some of that cake back BTM but ran into a problem. My Mother said that it was distinctly average Gingerbread and that Hers was much better.

by the way keswick is on the other side of penrith if you are coming from the newcastle side
but if you are going up the m6 you hit penrith and on the penrith junction, left is keswick and right is center parcs
its a nice day out if you are bored in center parcs (i bet you wont be!)

We went there when it was called 'Oasis'. Nice place. Look out for red squirrels scrounging on your door step.
We looked at going to a centre parks earlier this year. Its daft but we worked it out that during the school holidays it is cheaper to go to one in Belgium (and that included the petrol and ferry).

When we went there (Centre Parks/Oasis) it was about now when the weather was cr-p & there was so much to do we never went off site. Hired their bikes for getting to the central area from the lodge & stayed there all day. A good tip about stocking up with food/pop/etc. before you get there though, it's not cheap . Hope you have a great time, we did --Cogs.

Not too sure about attendance at Tuesday now, as SWMBO is away Tuesday & Wednesday overnight in Leicester & Market Harborough.

My one tip for any center parcs is decide what you wany to do on the first day and book it before all the slots are gone. They book up very quickly.

Firelighters 'cos they are £8.50 each from the shop on site, my mate was there last week and he was b****y cold all weekend.

i bought three bricks from the CP shop for about 7-8 quid i think
well worth it but make sure the central heating is on full blast for two reasons
1) you aint paying for it
2) its bloody cold in them lodges over night!

You will enjoy it , went there 2 years ago. Bikes are a must if you are at one of the lodges on the far side of the park...20 min walk otherwise. Paintball is on site but didnt look too good. Quading at Graystoke is ok...you offroaders wont be too impressed though.
Defintely stock up b4 you get there! the on site shop is pricey.
For future ref Sherwood is better...cheaper supermarket and more compact so with young kids you can get round far more easily.
Main thing is dont go too far or else you miss the point of Centreparcs - just relax!! Thats the hardest thing i find about hols

just got back awsome place the quad bikes were great never been on one before so good experience the lodge was hot looks like they are doing them up as it was repainted and a brand new condenser boiler fitted so really toasty both teenagers really enjoyed it played badminton and other sportd which is'nt bad considering they are normally sat in front of the tv or pc
would recommend to anyone great fun

next time book either longleat or sherwood forest
cos they got rapids! ;)
the one in penrith DID have rapids but it was hurting too many people so they shut it down (BOO! :( )
the lip that you had to go over was too high and vertical so you would bang your knees agains the wall as you tried to go down the next section
dont remember the one in sherwood cos i aint been since 2001 but went to longleat recently and it was fab

Try Longleat ... the lodges on the far side of the park are about a 45 minute walk from the main center!

yeh we stayed in lodge 500 and if it wasnt for the land train (trailers pulled by a 110) it would have been a good walk to the centre!
