Either the software is [!Expletive Deleted!] or a mod is funny, thread deleting with no explanation, dont you think thats just bad practice as well as just plain rude!
-
If you give us a clue we might know what you are taking about.
What thread?
What was it about?
Some thread dissapearences are down to threads being moved into the appropriate area.
First thing to ask when a thread appears to go missing is "Had I posted it in the proper place?"
HTH
-
Ive checked the relevant places that it might have gone to, and it didnt seem innapropriate as it was just general chat. I just checked the guidelines and it didnt go against any of them. It was just showing off me new toy!
-
maybe it has been deleated then!!!!
loads of peoples threads have been deleated, the best thing to do is re-do the thread
dan

too much hassle, it was just showing off me new motor, it seems to have definately been deleted as its just gone into thin air!
-
the software is ****** as I pointed out in another thread, could you get off your high horse and stop insulting me please?
-
If this is the one where you said you used to have a 90 and have this now, it was there. But as you say, all gone now
-
It has dissapeared.
I replied to your thread, and I looked in my profile under 'Find all posts by TimM' and there is no record.
If it had been moved then the reply would still be listed and you could click on it to see where it had been moved too.
So in this cercumstance it is down to the software, there have been many threads dissapearing lately, after an update or upgrade or something was done.
The admin/web team are looking into it and so either the threads will reappear shortly or at least - no other threads will dissapear.
-
as I pointed out in another thread,
You beat me to it
-
Then read Daz's post in answer to your question in the Q and A forum.
It would appear that it got ate by the "cookie monster" that's been eating some threads. The admin are working at trying to trace what is going wrong but it is difficult finding it as it doesn't happen too often and may need a certain set of circumstances.
Haing a pop at the Admin and/or Mods isn't really a good way to help solve the problem.
Most of the Admin and Mods get their kicks out of their 4x4. Not playing with people's posts by deleting them.
In fact the Admin/Mods very rarely EVER delete a thread even when a user asks for them to be deleted. None of us like censorship of any kind.
We do like the forum to be tidy though so stuff does get moved around.
Sorry I can't be any more helpful.

Looks like we were all tryping at the same time :)
-
I did say it was either the software was crap or it was a mod, but it now seems its the software....... long live PhpBB!!!
-
specifically it seems that under some circumstances when people are quoting and replying the thread index goes missing.
The posts are still in the database, but there is no corresponding entry for them in the list of active threads. Why this is happening is currently unknown, but since the relevant bit of code is one of the most heavily modified (and largest) sections of the forum it is taking time to diagnose and correct.
As I tried to point out, it's nothing personal, or at least if it is then you've managed to offend the database rather than one of the moderators. I know it's annoying, but please don't take it out on us :(
-
LOL i just want me thread back!! lol this is what happens when you update software, if i find something that works with no problems then i dont change it! lol
-
trouble is that on a remote (high bandwidth) machine such as this one is that most of the updates are done for security reasons.
PhpBB is a reasonably popular bit of software, take a look at the number of machines that have been hacked using it, and you'll probably see why we're a little anal about keeping it upto date.
-
you can add other security measures in which are ok, but even updating it means it can still get hacked, this i see all too frequently.
Personally i blame wanderer, for no other reason that he used an A instead of a C lol ;) hehe
