Saw this what do you think.http://www.firstfouroffroad.co.uk/discovery_tubular_bumpers.htm

to be brutally honest ?
I think it looks like someone got carried away with a pipe bender and had an MOT the next morning... otherwise he might have come up with something that didn't look like a flimsy bit of poo that doesn't match the styling of the vehicle in any way, shape or form.
to be slightly less brutal ..
I'm not that keen.

AAAAAAARRRRRRRGGGGGGHHHHH!!!!!!!
Ugly as f***. Each to there own tho, doesnt seem strong enough to me, a single tube round the side. Some of the proper winch bumpers on Disco's look cracking.
-
HOW MUCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Got my bro to knock mine up.....only cost me 20 beer tokens and cost of the steel!
-
I quite like the look of the RDS one's on the front
http://www.rdseng.co.uk/images/Tubular%20Bumpers.jpg
Think they may be a little less costly too
-
:(bigshock): just not nice ,plain and simply *&^kin ugly looks like something on the shunt motor here at work!
-
Got RDS 1 on mine fits well looks good and Dave Sharp is a dead nice fella and right helpfull :D
-
Not as nice as the Cheviot 4x4 bumper (sorry can't find a pic on the web) but I have to say that generally tubular bumpers don't suit the styling of Disco's as they leave the wing in front of the wheel looking unfinished.
I seem to recall the Cheviot design uses a tapered box section combined with tubes to get round this.
Personally I like the box section but tapered style as used by Devon 4x4 on their D44 bumpers

The lights are mounted to the roll cage.
Drool again!
=P~

OK... clearly I'm somewhat biased ;-)
But, aside from the looks.. think about the strength.. what do you think is going to happen if you slide into a tree ?
An importand part of winch bumpers should be their safety and strength... take a good, hard look at the options !

Are you sure that's a roll cage? :? It looks like it's bolted to the roof side!?
-
It is a cage... external front, tubes go through the roof to an internal rear section.

Tim i realy like the look of the taperd thin sided Devon bumper. Do you think this affects the strength that much is it best to go for one with a thicker side to it.
-
I have the D44 bumper and it is a real nice peace off work very solid 8), and about the lightbar on the Devon disco it is not part of an internal rolcage (i called them about it with the same question) and they call it lightbar/treeslider :?:

Muddyweb may know about that motor.

On that note Tim
Can you get me a price on one of those cage's for a 5 door please?
Just curoius at the moment but it may be on the to-do list
