Title: End of an era in London
Post by: landyman Ash on December 09, 2005, 10:02:31
Well most (apart from Mayor Ken and Tufftee it seems   ) are really gutted to see this iconic part of London vansih from main service

The dreaded bendy bus that blocks traffic lights, catches fire and gets stuck in tight corners is taking over

Be honest, what you you rather go on in london???

The bendy or the classis routemaster!!!!

Routemaster anyday

Anyday that is as long as I'm in London. With not living there, London is like a holiday destination ( :? ) and so the Routemasters add to the charm ( :?  :? ) and make the whole visit enjoyable ( :?  :?  :? ).

If I had to use them everyday, I would want a third option of a modern normal sized bus  :D

I'd rather travel on anything that steered well clear of London...but that wasn't an option  :D

I used a normal double decker for the last few years and yes they do have their advantage

CCTV, clean, spacious BUT you cant meet legging ir after a bus and the conductor helping you on the back as it flies down Oxford street.

Dam dangerous but "how terribly english"

Sorry i can't vote as i hate all buses!

I have to get on a staff bus at the Airport to transport me from the Staff Carpark to the Cental terminal area?
With all those people spreading their Colds and Flu Viruses by Coughing and Sneezing on a packed Bus!

NO Thanks!!

As i stated Before!

Typical they will sell them, but you'll see the things going on and on all over the world, as everybody else will want them

We ahve those bendy nightmares in Manchester, they pull out with vehicles along side without checking mirrors and just generally add to the conjestion, never usually more than a mini bus full of people on them anyway!

We have that too..... works wonders, all the crossings / lanes are on traffic lights and apart from making the maze of central Manchester one way streets even more confusing it barely adds to the congestion.

NOW YOUR TALKING!!!!

Used the trams in Manchester for 3 years everyday.  Only problem I ever had was the tram hit a cow.

They investigated why the tram was so badly damaged.  Never mind that......

What the *&$% was a cow doing on a track in the middle of Manchester

Alot of the old tram tunnels still exist in London

Never sure why Ken never put them in.

I reckon in ten years all the buses in Oxford st will have gone and a tram system will replace them

The trams work a treat in Manchester and in Croydon and in Sheffield

Seems crazy Ken hasnt even talked about it!!!!

I would rather ride on the routemaster, but having driven routemasters and modern busses I would rather drive the modern ones !

AAAArgh!  I'd rather walk than use a Peasant Wagon.

But i s'pose a Routemaster is as much a part of London as the Taxi's.
