Has any body ever tried to service the front brake callipers on range rover classic i have removed old pistons and seals and the bores look ok am now trieing to fit new pistons and sealsand retaining rings the Haines manual makes it sound so easy

It's a b****d, I've given up trying. Someone suggested you fit the wipe seal retainer then the wiper seal then press the piston in. Trouble is the wiper seals are just c**p.

I've done a few of them in my time.
Get a couple of spare retaining rings, since they are the bits you'll mess up.
Once you get the hang of them, they aren't too bad

Ignore the haynes manual!! Its c**p! I know the haynes manual tells you not to split the caliper, but if you split it you can tap the retainers in square with a large socket, then all you have to do is replace the 2 o rings in between the two halves. Believe me doing it this way saves lots of time and money on replacement retainers!!
