Title: 300tdi auto
Post by: hobbit on December 15, 2005, 21:14:59
Ok I have a 300 tdi with an auto box on the hybrid, presuming it has the right transfer box bolted onto it, what would(should) it be?

It was supposed to have come out of a 97 disco anyway

Gearbox and transfer boxes and all double dutch to me, btw, its a 4 speed auto

It should be a 1.2:1 as opposed to a defender which is a 1.4:1

presumably a LT 77 but not 100% sure.....

now...... off topic your Hybrid, is it a 88 inch ? cos I want to fit an Auto to my Hybrid (200Tdi 88 inch) and want to know if it will fit ?(if I keep it that is)

if so any chance of about 1000 pictures from every angle and what box is  fiitted and prop length if possible, lot to ask I know.....please...... :P

obviously being a Hybrid it can have so many variables hence all the piccies

Ta !

if its to much hassle don't worry.... but I had to ask did'nt I ?

Trying to get an hour on the ramps at my mates garage with a lot of batteries and memory card

It was a rangy chassis, shortened I presume to 88 for the lightweight body on top

But its a definate mix and match of most of the Land Rovers bits and bobs (bit like a disco 1 I suppose  )

Will do some pics and measurements when I get on the ramp.

The manual Disco 1's had the LT77 on the 200's and the R380 on the 300's.

Does the same logic apply to the Auto  :?:  :?

The autos are all ZF4 speeds with LT230 transfer.  Like my 300tdi auto defender.

ZF factory in Nottingham, wonder if I go and knock on the back door if I can scrounge a box off them

That sounds like what I have it did come out of a disco 300

Yeah it will be, i kept the 90 gearing cos i think the Discos are a bit slow off the mark.

That is one thing this is not, with the reduced size comes less weight, and it can take off from a standing start

Ooh right, i wonder if i could get away with a Disco transfer then, cos i max out at around 75-80.

Ed (Wanderer) has been trying that the other way round on his disco. My machine will do over 70 I know that, but feels weird inside, and I'm not that brave the steering so light I'm happy with that, gets a few funny looks in the 3rd lane of on the motorway though
