Title: R-reg defender, whats it worth
Post by: tjsj on December 16, 2005, 12:06:02
My dad's mate has an r-reg either 110 or 130 station wagon. The seats in the boot have never been used as the car was used to tow a trailer delivering wood as he owns a big wood place. Its the 300 engine and has done 227,000 miles with all the necessary servicing and stuff so full history and he is the only owner as he has it from new. I said he should be looking for around £6,500, just wondering what you lot thought as he has now got an xs 130 and wants rid of the old one.
Cheers
Tom

Personally I recokn that's abit high, I've seen some early TD5 110s for that sort of money.

Actually price look strong for defenders now, last time I looked I'd have said 5k, I paid 6k for a 98R Range Rover nearly 5 years ago. But having just looked in Auto Trader, you could spend 6k on anything from a Late Low Mileage 2.5TD right though to a 300TDi. So I appologise prices do seem high for defenders especially TDI ones. Round here I reckone a 300TDi is worth slighlty more than a like for like TD5, and a 110 is worth more than a 130. I am surprices though at the prices round us there a 3 110s advertised a 93k with 76k miles at £10k, a 96P with 100k miles at £11k and a 97R with 104k miles at £10k.

So those figure show just how wrong I was

Obviously your friends has nearly twice the mileage, and may be a 130 but given those I might be tempted to advertise it abit higher than you suggested, and see how it goes. Bear in mind that this is about the worst week possible for selling a car !!!!
