Mines in the open glove box being the 200 Tdi. Keeps it out of the way and fairly easy to use but not perfect as the mic cable is not that long.

Its not finished yet.
it looks a bit wonky. That'll be the motor for the front sunroof getting in the way!

Mines where Pauls' is. But the midland's LCD backlite display is a pain in the rear to see from the driving seat :(

Check you can see the display from such angle first.  Im pondering over changing to a Team MC8, need to check I can see its display first.  I tend to do a lot of chatting whilst on the Motorway and hopping up and down channels  :)

I have an MC8 and am only allowed by SWMBO to fit it when I come out with Mud-Club, it's been all over the cab, never have any problems seeing it.

If you are channel hopping, it has a scan and a dual-watch facility (where it will change between two channels until it finds something rather than scanning them all, and when you stop talking on one it goes back to 'watching' both).

BUT....

As has been pointed out elsewhere on the forum, the MC-8 if connected to power via the ignition will auto reset to channel 9 when you power off, if you wire it to the battery (through a suitable fuse   ) it will remember what station you were on. This may not matter much to you, but for the likes of me who only ever uses channel 30 it is quite a pain.

UMM i think i may have to upgrade frm mine as it does not scan i have to manually do it  8) and i like the idea of scanning the channels for when im on long jorneys for traffic problems and so on

Mine is fixed to the passenger side of the centre console. Personally, I don't like the idea of the mike wire dangling from above

Mine's "wedged" between the centre console and the passenger seat.  Don't like the dangling cables from above, and I have a manual sunroof, so no room above.

Mine's in the cubby box - trimmed the bottom of the box out so it can sit low enough to have the lid closed with everything connected

In the center of the dash is a rubber tray. I remove this and fix the bracket to the dash and a mag mount on the roof. When I don't need it, I just remove the lot and put the rubber bit back. I have the CB powered by the cig lighter

So far yes, not your normal craft type velcro - more the keep a rampaging elephant tied down industrial sort of velcro.

Do not mount your CB on the dash as in this day and age your low life smak head will think its a sat nav. One smashed window later!!! Do not even leave a bracket there.

I know of two cars, one a disco, in the last week broken into for sat nav's, the stick fixing pad was the only thing on show.

Be warned!!

Cheers

Mine's a handheld so I just clip it onto the ashtray while laning.  When funds allow, I'll get the car kit though and an external antenna.

Had a mobile jet washer cleaning paving at work this week, 10m hose from back of van, locked cab, wallet and GPS stolen even with lots of people walking past the little [person of questionable parentage] broke the lock....

That said the simple ally hanging thing I made for my radios remote head doesn't seem to attract much notice, normally.
