Title: Door Trim
Post by: Carroll on December 21, 2005, 17:32:56
I've managed to break the electric window mechanism on the drivers side of my 300tdi. Now then, carefully following the instructions in the Haynes book led me to getting the door trim off no problem, but behind that there is a plastic "weather shield". It just looks like a sheet of polythene.

Taking that off gently (as per instructions) I ripped it in a couple of places.

How important is the plastic sheet? Does an awful lot of muck and water get in there?

Cheers.

Its there to stop water getting onto the fibreboard of the door panel.

If water gets onto the fibreboard it breaks apart and expands to the extent where it would proberbly push you into the passenger seat !

theres proberbly a 35 item long list of removal instructions for the plastic sheet in haynes but like Paul said, repair with gaffer tape !
