:o its snowing here in newcastle kids out building a snowman
-
There was a good 4cms overnight here. Beginning to melt now, but it's sheet ice underneath!!
Pic just taken outside work:
-
About 1-2 inches here, but quite serious on the roads as no sign of any gritters for the poor souls in their roller skates, makes it dangerous for all.
Quite a layer of ice underneath, got home pulled onto drive as usual which is quite a steep slope. Put the handbrake on and slid back off
Had to park on the road
-
Had quite a layer of snow last night.
Has been snowing on and off today whilst out on some local lanes
Cheers

It snowed for 2 mins last night.
I just about made it to the car before it stopped.
I guess i'll have to wait again for a bit of snowy night laning.

As I sit here, with logs blazing away in the stove, dogs lying stretched out on the mat and glass of cider to hand, I can't help feeling slightly amused at all the fuss about a little snow. :? 4cm (what ever that is) :? 2-4 inches. That's not snow! When I where a lad :D I can remember going to work from Parbold near Wigan, to Mossley Common, Manchester, (19 miles) in a foot of snow. And THAT was on a motorbike. Good few years back mind.
-
Took me 2 hours to get home tonight from work its about 20 miles and normaly takes about 35-40 minutes
I'm out in the sticks but work in town and they refuse to beleve that if the roads are clear there they maybe dangerous anywhere else
tried to get away early as looked like I might not get home and blankly told no
A1 around newcastle was sheet ice like disco geordie said and so where most of the minor roads leading on too it and out near me theres at least an inch of snow and on the roads and under that its sheet ice no sign of gritters even attempting to clear it
most drivers are taking care - slowing down leaving extra stopping space etc but still a few idiots doing 50 on ice. one numptytried to pull out in front of me on a roundabout in a focus all he managed to do was spin his wheels drift sideways and nearly get the bumper of my 90 in his drivers door.
I think he realised how stupid he had been as tipped his head back and let out a big sigh of relief
SWMBO also had lucky escape when she span the car - only doing 5mph as road was iced but she was a little shock up fortunatly both SWMBO and car are fine
and according to met office its going to be down to -7 tonight
-
Well- the good news is there's more on the way:
http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/weather/europe/uk/warnings.html
Current warnings:
EARLY WARNING OF SEVERE WEATHER
EARLY WARNING of Heavy Snow and Drifting Snow Issued by the Met Office at 10:57 on Wednesday, 28 December
OVERALL RISK ASSESSMENT: The probability of disruption due to severe weather conditions in part of the United Kingdom within the next 60 hours is 80 percent.
This is the first warning of disruption due to Heavy Snow and Drifting Snow.
The Met Office is expecting a band of heavy snow, accompanied by fairly strong winds, to move across the United Kingdom, from the west, during Thursday and Friday. This will turn to rain with time, more quickly in the west, with rain more likely throughout near south facing coasts. Temporary accumulations of 2- 5cm are expected to occur quite widely, with perhaps more than 10cm over some higher ground in the north, where drifting is likely. Some disruption to travel is quite likely.
Western areas will be affected by this weather event on Thursday, and eastern parts on Friday, with 3 to 6 hours of snow likely in places before milder conditions bring persistent rain and a rapid thaw.
This warning will be update by 1000 tomorrow, Thursday 29th December 2005, unless it is superseded by the issue of flash messages.

Yes, indeed! 2 or 3 cms of snow and the country grinds to a halt!
Had an amusing sight the other morning of someone trying to keep the country going. An articulated truck full of sugar beet (what would that be? 25 tons maybe?) trying to get up the hill outside our house. Got half way up and just sat there wheels spinning. He couldn't easily back down since it is single track with ditches both sides! He did eventually crawl his way over the brow, but took a good ten minutes!
-
Incredibly heavy frost here last night and it started snowing about half an hour ago - only a light dusting on the ground so far but fingers crossed
-
fully loaded artic 44ton gross and normally only one drive axle not fun been there do that got the tee shirt and waited for the griter to get me going again

Well it started coming down in South Wales this afternoon and is looking good so far, not much on the roads at presetn but what is there is entertaining for the cars, mind it might be to do witht he fact that i have driven my two Freelanders up and down the street numerous times - any excuse! :D
-
just had to tow one of my posh neighbours up the little hill at the end of my road as his bmw could not get up it oh how i laugh as they all have two cars and big houses bit no brains and at the end of the street we have small houses and brains
-
oh and i forgot to add the only 4x4 in the street
-
its snowing in southampton, so if it can snow here its can anywhere
-
We've had a cover here - less than an inch and it's melted on the gritted roads. It's packed hard on our road, but if I take it steady the Mondeo still goes where I want it to (brother borrowed the RR and has still got it). Took the dog out yesterday, enough on the ground to throw snowballs which she caught and they exploded in her face  . She wasn't impressed. It's absolutely freezing though
-
snowing here as well :P :P :P (Portsmouth) :P :P :P
-
It's been snowing here since 4 pm.
It forecasts snow overnight here and then it will turn to rain by mid morning. By the end of the afternoon it should be raining heavy here just as the snow hits the Eastern side of the country.
Rain all weekend and a 'warm' 10C.
-
Minus 10 this morning and stayed freezing all day. Snow expected tonight and tomorrow. Oh yes! The 90's heater fan switch has just packed in. Webasco for next winter. :D
-
IT`S SNOWING ERE!
JUST A THIN COVERING BUT WE WILL LIVE IN HOPE!!!! :)
-
Finally, we have a sprinkling............no sorry a s dusting. Still if was at work tomorrow it might be enough to call in and say I am snowed in!
-
If anyone is feeling left out I'll post them a bag of snow
-
For those of you who feel left out, here's another pic for you :P
Still coming down thick and fast here. But, I understand it's to turn to rain this afternoon.
-
It's been having a good go about half-an-hour ago, but it's blown over.
In a way I'm glad as I was outside trying to syphon diesel.
'Metallic Simians' had nothing on me
I do fully expect to have all sorts of fun at work this afternoon & tomorow night.
Shoppers/old ladies & (new year) party drunks falling over.
Shoppers & old-ladies get sympathy & care
Drunks tend to get dragged away by the Police
Wonder if I can manage to get my nose rebroken (from the other side) to help straighten it??

-
YES WE FINALLY HAD SNOW (THURSDAY NITE)
SO I GOT THE URGE AT 10 PM TO GO OUT IN THE RANGIE!
