Title: I need some gearbox help!!
Post by: Whitelandyman90 on January 03, 2006, 22:12:21: Well.... the good news is that the old girl passed her MOT once again =D> =D> The not so good news is that the tiny selector fork problem I thought I had which causes her to pop out of gear in low range under engine breaking, usually on a steep slope when you least need it, is in fact not so tiny and it looks like I need a new gearbox :shock:

Can anyone point me in the direction of a reasonable retailer of a recon LT77 box for a 90 (preferably down south rather than oop north for ease of fetching it) please :?:

It just so happens I have a recon box which I got for my project when I thought the engine I had was a 200 TDi. The engine turned out to be a 300 TDi and the LT77 would not fit. The box is in Hereford and. Let me know if you are interested.

Post by: Whitelandyman90 on January 04, 2006, 13:17:07: No, but thanks for the suggestion, I had it checked out and have been advised that it's definitely a gearbox problem. It's just amplified when in low range under stress but if left unchecked will eventually spread to all circumstances of use. I can see where you are coming from, I'd be really naffed off if I replaced the box and it turned out to be the transfer box :oops:

Thanks to all for your responses. I've got a few leads to follow up on which is further along than I was yesterday. :D

Post by: muddyweb on January 04, 2006, 20:51:45: I'd go with Ashcroft. He'll send you a box, and then you can send yours back so you don't have the vehicle sitting around with no box for days at a time.
