Right then, I've got the famous Hoodoo 2" lift kit, got the diamond tyres ready, sorted where to get bits for my snorkel and the Pro Comp ES9000s arrived today (Thats was quick, arent Explorer on the ball!!) :P

So I've set aside the weekend after next (14th an 15th Jan) to carry out the mods. I'll keep you informed with the progress! Cant wait!!! :D

I scuffled a Lada for 4/5 years, had some 16" diamonds on RR rims, cut centres out, and made new ones to fit Lada. Took a plama cutter to archs, in low range, it would go places a locked up LR struggled, due to its lightness, and improved ground clearance.
Only problem i ever had, one of the  rear control arms broke off where it was  friction welded to the bush.
Its still being used by a freind of mine, for setting out trails, and safari courses.
Got me eye on a tidy one locally, still being driven day to day, its only a matter of time.

Most of the mods on hold for another weekend!

Now have to work this weekend but went under the vehicle today to measure up the bolts i need for the lift kit, and found one of the bump stops and the bottom of the coil spring with some tin worm affected metal around it!! PANTS!!!
Checked the other side and thats rotten too!! Everything else seems ok but need to replace these before anything else now!

Been and bought all the other bits I need for the snorkel etc, so the dining room looks like an off roaders spares room with the Pro Comps, snorkel bits and the lift kit in it!!

At least I'll be able to wayoyl EVERYTHING when it's apart now though!! :D

Oh, WHAT A DAY!!

Started off bad with me being called out on a job at 5.30 this morning.

Once home, got Niva onto mates drive and started stripping it to change both top spring barckets before doing the Hoodoo lift!

Jacked up, axle stands under. anti roll bar off, caliper off, disconnected ball joint, lowered bottom arm and with slight leverage out popped the spring and what remains of the bump stop mount! :?

Started to undo the first couple of bolts holding the bracket  then stopped for lunch. All seemed to be going very well indeed! :D

By the time luch passed it was 2pm so back outside and started again!

WHAT A NIGHTMARE!! Is it just mine or have the four nuts that hold that bracket through the bodywork and to the subframe been welded to the damn bolts!WHY ON EARTH???

Out with the grinder, which packed up!

Decided to attack it with the Oxy Acetylene set from the van! That 'eventually' melted them enough! :)

I've manage to get it all back together now, WITHOUT the lift as I needed the damn grinder to remove the rear of the baseplate!

(AND I THOUGHT YESTERDAY WAS FRIDAY THE 13th!!!)

Just to make matters worse, I thought I'd check the other side, YEP, They are welded too!!

SHOULD BE FINISHED BY THEN!!! :(biglaugh):

Going for a nice well deserved soak on the radox liquid then an early night to attack it again tomorrow.

Going to leave the front and do the back! What could go wrong with that?  :(scared):

THATS BETTER!! Progress made today, even when the rain started!

Got up and started work at 10am, had the rear lift kit fitted by lunchtime, along with the new Pro comps ES9000s! Jetwashed all components then waxoyled the inner arches.
After lunch I jetwashed the driveway, dunno why but there you go!!

Had time left this afternoon so carried on with the nightmare of yesterdayand fitted the drivers side lift!  \:D/

So next weekends aim is to get the other bracket done, and the lift kit fitted to that side too! Then it'll be the snorkel in, stickers on, tyres fitted and Devil Duck in position!!  =D>

Photos of the weekends work is HERE!!!! (http://jiffyregister.fotopic.net/c829307.html)

Ah, good point. Must change my avatar sometime.

It's a different Niva. The camo one is in a garage being used as a spares donor. The clutch went on it, was due for tax and MOT so took it off the road and bought a new one!

The camo one was an older 1.6 model and this is the 1.7i one. If you slam a door on the maroon one NOTHING FALLS OFF!!

Looks too clean though, gonna get it dirty this weekend though!! :D

I'm struggling with the paint scheme for my 90 I'm rebuilding at the mo. Originally red, sprayed most of it black (just a quick coat), but I like the cammo, or the urban cammo I've seen on here. What you reckon?? :?

I originally bought my first Niva in the white base with cammo over the top and have done it to most since.

If you go to http://www.jiffyregister.fotopic.net there are a few pix of my others.

It is supposed to be the russian army winter camoflage, and my mate did his zuk from a pictue he saw of a Sea King helicopter in camo too!

He brushed his on, as it needed defined lines, mine, I used an old sponge!!!

I'm never one for going the same as anyone else, always try to do something different.Do like the urban camo though!

Cheers FLATPACK! Will look better with some mud on! I'll get some pix when I'm out playing!!
