Title: Remembering
Post by: Bush Tucker Man on January 04, 2006, 20:51:51: With regard to my recent loss of Jack (http://forums.mud-club.com/viewtopic.php?t=16682)
Whilst I was finding some photos of him to frame, I was thinking about pehaps giving the 110 a name.

Now I know there's a 90 very near to me with a name on it, I don't know the background to the name (whether it's a beloved pet, or simply a name?), I might ask the owner.

So ought I to name it & perhaps put his photo on the dash? (or am I being daft)

Opinions please...........................................

Its a tribute and an honour for a dear friend.
I always name my vehicles.
Some are obvious, some not. Some i have to explain too.
Every one has diferent reasons for their car name.
I started a tread on it a while ago and some nice (and strange) reasons came out.

First off, my deepest sympathies.... your post had me in tears too. Katie (our hound.. deliverer of fine paw prints to mud-club members at shows) was hit by a car last year, and that was a big trauma. I try not to think about how it will be when the terrible day comes.

I don't think you'll forget him for a second.. My last Collie (Ben) is still very much in my memories, and there is a favourite photo in the dining room. Thankfully the memories have turned more to happy nostalgia than sorry, and I hope that comes to you soon.

remeber the good times.Corny I know but otherwise you'll see the new arrival as a reminder of the loss of a friend/companion.

the main regret I had when we lost our dog is that we had no where we go to remember him.
If you have a garden etc why not get a tree or something to mark your friends passing?

after a while the good memories will return and they are with you forever.

After loosing our companian for 14 years, when we eventually got another dog our first thought was to use the same name ................ bit I'm dam glad we didn't ...... they are all individuals :)

Call the 110 ........ Egbert.............. or something completely different at least

(Just my opinion by the way .............. you do whatever you want)

I made the mistake of naming one of my computers (alright a slightly different level of sad) after my dog which had just passed away, and every time I got annoyed with it, I felt like I was getting annoyed with her :(

Quite simply her memory doesn't deserve any tarnish as she was quite possibly my best friend (well, she listened more than anyone else did ;))

I'd find your favourite picture of Jack and take it down to jessops, get it suitably printed and framed and then put it in a place where you can look on it when you want rather than being forced to confront the lostt....

my landy is like my old lab little puddles turn up unannounced :wink:

That is sensible, & a good reason not to name the truck (as mother-in-law calls it)

Post by: The Fat Controller on January 05, 2006, 19:31:00: sorry for your loss of a family member BTM,i know how it feels as my family had to say good bye to one of our cats who's been with us for 16 years.
we have loads of photo's of hairy the cat with our other animals including some of him falling asleep on the rabbit.we will always remember him as we do the animals we had before him but when the right vehicle arrives it will carry hairy's name.

You'll never forget him anyway.
My Old Boy is burried under the tree at the bottom of the garden and I wrote a poem about him when he died, and printed it out along with a photo and it is still framed on the wall.

(just my opioin) but landrovers can be very annoying !!! :( :(
