we have got a defender 90 and it is in gd nick

Well done, they're rather rare.
I assume that it is an 'first edition' with the 4.0V8, auto-box, painted in 'Atlantis Blue' & not one of the later Tdi editions???
Log onto James (forget his surname  ) site, it's good & 95% inhabited by Defender 50th owners, I think there's me & maybe 2 others with Discoverys on there (well. I've sold my 50th now)
www.defender50th.co.uk
Also have a look at my 'WebShots', there's 2 albums of the ones I've seen & have been e-mailed to me hint, hint, hint!!
 (also a further 2 of my old 50th)

-
Didn't they make them in TDI later on? Still have the fancy paint and wheels.
-
Must admit, I didn't look at the pictures until now.
It's one of the later runs that were done 'on the back' of the 90-V8's success.
I'm not being derogatory in any form 'Matty', you've still got a stonking vehicle
-
i thought a 50th had a factory fitted rollcage.

Mat...
You have got a 50th.... but not the V8 one that everyone associates the 50th Anniversary models with.
There are two types of 50th Anniversary Defenders:
1: The Atlantic Blue 4.0L V8 Auto CSW (county station wagons)
These have a external (at the front)/internal (at the rear) roll cage and were the first UK Defenders not to have a bulkhead behind the front seat.
They also had numerous other upgrades, including uprated suspension etc etc.
They were also the last V8 Defenders built by Land Rover. (V8's were a special build option up until about 1995, then they were dropped) - this is the short specification list.
2: The other type of 50th Anniversary models are very rare, and thus don't crop up that often.
They were based on manual 300Tdi County Hardtop 90's (not CSW) and came in a limited range of colours (burgundy, Atlantic blue - I think, and a more blue/green AFAIK - will try and find out though) – all with a body coloured roof.
They also came with the same wheels and tyres as the V8 model (dark grey centred freestyle alloys and BFGoodrich All Terrain tyres).
And they had turned Aluminium gear and transfer knobs.... and a splattering of aluminium chequer plate. And a NAS type rear tow hitch/step (but the UK version)
I think they also featured a CNC machined Land Rover oval badge at the back (reproduction of the original cast Land Rover ovals)
They didn't have the V8 roll cage either...
There are a few other features too, but not sure of the exact spec off the top of my head.
If you PM your registration (or chassis number) I 'may' be able to find out a bit more in the way of spec…
Apart from the features above - alloys and trim bits etc - they aren't that far from standard 300Tdi County hardtops... however they are a bit different so worth looking after - just for the rarity value.

thx ian will av a look for u it has most off the fetures u have put down

In my opinion the TDI is the better option. The V8 Auto was excellent on the 50th I had, but with 11-13mpg it's not very practical as a daily car. Yes you could gas it but then you got a tank taking up evenmore space in the rear.
If you want to fit one of the Safety Devices 50th cages I have a front section available complete with all brackets and a guy I know in Ireland has a rear section available.
Cheers
Steve
