Hi All
After having my first holiday for over three years I have just got back from Xmas in Barbados with my wife and our 7 month old daughter.
Whilst I was there I went on the Island Safari to get my Landies fix. 11 out of the 14 they have were out and about in convoy.
Fantastic day and saw parts of the island you would not get to see.
There is another company running toyotas and they cannot go to the same places with bods on the back.
The rest are in my gallery. Here http://members.mud-club.com/profiles/beattiedh/gallery/Barbados_Xmas_2005

Memories of Barbados.....
I was fortunate enough to live and work in Barbados for the 5 years upto Nov 2004, being involved in the construction of the United Nations regional headquarters and the new Hilton hotel at Needhams Point just outside Bridgetown. Some might say a paid holiday. :D
In all my time there I never did get to go on one of the off road tours, although I saw them trundling around the island all the time - spent too much time at work or frequenting the rum shops (aka bars) I suppose.
Wasn't a Landie owner then, just too expensive and I had a company car anyway - all private cars in Barbados attract something like 100% import duty - that's why there's so many recycled jap imports and old bangers on the road that should have been pushed off the cliffs many years ago!
Hope you enjoyed your holiday

best thing was Banks Beer
loved the stuff!

We go into Barbados on a regualr basis, every two weeks for the last couple of months, it's always nice to see so many Land Rovers. The tours use them and a lot of local industries use them as well. Mind you they really do prefer the defender, Disco's and Rangies are not common and I am not sure if I have even seen a Freelander there.
The same story is true on most of the caribbean islands really, right up until you get near the Virgin Islands where the US influence comes in witht eh big Ford and Chevy trucks.
BArbasos is quite outstanding though, the locals are so freindly it hurts and the booze is silly prices.

It was great
I used to live there myself from 85 to 91 and then came back to the UK to try and have a career.
All too easy to slip into the the Rum, Beach, Rum lifestyle!!
Have been back every three to four years.
This one was very special though. We stayed at a family friends beach villa with 5 Staff.
Very nice indeed and, after working solidly for the last 3 years to rebuild my life, it was very welcome.
I saw three new Discos out there this time though.
