Title: loosing clutch fluid
Post by: muddysteve on January 07, 2006, 16:32:54
just browsing under the bonnet today ive noticed i've lost quite a bit of clutch fluid. the area around the slave cylinder seems damp however it doesnt look like a rangie set up more like a disco with the starter motor etc being on the opposite side. it appears to be leaking from a round disc shaped thing bolted to the plate that the slave is attached. the flexi seems to go into this and the back out the same side in solid pipe into the slave cylinder.

the question is have i got a damper thing like the tdi disco has and is it this leaking?

Thanks in advance

Steve

If it's a diesel then it will have a damper. The petrols don't need them.

Well it's round and as you described it'll have a fixed metal pipe to the slave cylinder. Along with another pipe that will have a flexi portion of it up to the master cylinder. Goldy colour under the mud :)

Mines leaking from the back of the slave cylinder.
It looks like the fluid is leaking from the pipe fitting on the slave cylinder.
When i tried to get the pipe from a local "4x4 SPECIALIST" i was told.
"Nah mate main dealer only"

The slave cylinder pipe connector size changed around 1990 ish.
The later slave cylinder has a larger bore pipe.

So it may or may not work on a 1990 vehicle.
