Hi guys does any one know the speed rating of these tyres please  :D

As far as I can remember its 99 or 112 mph. I have some fitted.

According to the Bronco website, they are 114Q

Which is 1180 Kg / 100mph

Presumably that 1180kg refers to the weight at that corner, and not either axle or vehicle.


I wonder how you calculate that given a 2 ton vehicle, that doesn't always have all 4 on the floor  :D

How do the load ratings work btw?  a question I've never really had answered...  (probably because I've not asked it)

Since 1180 seems remarkably light for, say a discovery, is this weight per wheel (hence roughtly vehicle weight over 4 ?)

Just thought it'd be a usefull enough question to ask :?

Hmmm, buy your ear defenders here!!!!! Its the sidewalls i dont like, all over the place on the ones i had...not reassuring. very good in the slime though.

The load rating is per tyre.    The weight of the vehicle is spread over the number of tyres on the vehicle.

It's not quite as simple as diving by 4 (or 6 if you are David), because the axle weights will be different.  But you get the idea.

pux, they arent much different from BFG's off road..but nowhere near as good on road!

true, but as a *rough* guide would it suffice,  for example...

the tyres mentioned above give a value of around 4 tonnes assuming you have four of them, does this mean that with a disco being around 2, they're fine and dandy...  

with due consideration to the fact that it's a *very* rough measure should teh answer not be double the weight of the vehicle ?

As a rough guide, yes.  Don't forget, you need to calculate on the maximum allowable weight of the vehicle... just the same as with the speed ratings

Don't forget that air pressure plays an important part in the weight ratio. To carry the maximum weight you need something like 90 psi (off the top of my head).

That depends on the tyre...  it will be written on the side normally.

well im getting them from gecko gonna put em and see how i get on with em either way i will be selling my bfgs or selling the grizzlys for jason, couple of my friends(yes i have em :lol: )  the swear by grizzlys so when jasons came up i jumped at the chance so will try em on monday and if it dont work out there will be a set of tyres for sell  :wink:

I personaly would nt touch them again with a barge pole,( currently involved with trading standards about this tyre) I  would  not like togo above 50 with this tyre let alone 105  mph which they are rated at, Im hoping the outcome of my saga with bronco will soon be at an end and when it is I hope this site will let me tell the full story............

I have just put grizzleys on my disco as I bought them off matt_h a few months ago. He did 70mph on them and towed and they seemed fine to him.

Looking at mine yesterday there is a rubber line going all the way around them about an inch below the tread and that isnt a complete circle it wobbles up and down alot. Bit warry about that but not cracks in side walls etc.

can you pm me as well your views. I am going to give mine a spin tomorrow when i get home from work if I can hold the bumper cap out the way!

Martin , What are you thinking about! in the BFG you have what is probably the best all round tyre on the market , there is nothing to be gained from a cheap (cult) tyre -cheap in comparison to the BFG anyway,there not called Grizzlies for nothing -thats what you will be doing after youve fitted them Grizzling to your mates -you know what i will say Told Ya So!!!!!!!!!!!!!, :-({|=
