Title: Disco Chequer plate, bump strip & Arch fitting
Post by: RedDisco on January 09, 2006, 15:01:41
Just got new fiberglass arches for my Disco  :D  so I thought I would have a go at fitting them.
My Disco is a 300tdi, the one with the thick rubber strip down the side, so I had the bright idea   of peeling the strip off making the arches easier to fit and hopefully looking better.

Problem #1 How do you remove the glue deposit left behind?

Problem #2 I didn't realise the wings and doors were different   on the models with the rubber strip and they had big square holes where the strip fitted.

So now it's either put the strip back (which I don't really want to do, I think it looks better without) or fit chequer plate to cover holes.

Where's a good place to buy chequer plate (it will need to come up to the swage line in order to cover the holes, all the kits I have seen up to now stop below the rubber moulding so are no use??

Thanks.

Use Autoglym Intensive tar remover to get rid of the glue, it works a treat..

So does plain old un-leaded petrol and it'll probably be a cheaper option!
only answer on the chequer plate really is buy a sheet and cut your own.
or replace the rubber moulding with black tape when you,ve finished the arches!

...........or phone those that make the kits and ask for what YOU want and not what they sell!!  :D
