Title: clutch master cylinder

my dad was out in the defender and the clutch master cylinder was chukin out fluid wot do i need to do a new 1 or it is fixable he has nt long got bk on the recovery truck

you can fit a repair kit but they dont normally last more than a week before it starts leaking again,a new 1 is fiddly to fit but better in the longrun

Buy a new one... a proper AP or Lucas one though...

I personnally wouldn't bother with Britpart or Allmakes ones, usually cheap casting and cheaply made.

Most place, e.g Craddocks, Paddocks sell the Britpart ones.... best place for Lucas stuff is BLRS in Erdington.

Normally, I would agree, but my Lucas one is weeping after less than a year  :( Had the same problem with rear wheel cylinders.... fitted genuine Lucas and one failed at just over a year.

I doubt Lucas ones are actually 'genuine' any more. They fill the box with whatever is the cheapest option, as do AP Lockheed (Delphi). We are fully aware of this from the Classic Mini market. Many of the Lockheed boxed items are actually Italian imports.

got the new master cylinder today hopfully my brother will fit it tonight after work really need it this weekend
