Okay, cant make my mind up
Should it be series doors with door tops off
Series door with tops on
90 doors with windows that I can just open and close
Whats the thoughts????
-
i'd go for the series doors with no tops,
you get more elbow room like that, but it dont half hurt if you catch your elbow on the door bottom
-
Defender doors, ready for those deep puddles, they all leak, but that bit off glass will help
-
Currently running series doors with door tops off but the simex tyres just dump all the mud on my lap
Really unsure on what to be honest....
-
Another possibility, as weight saving = speed......
NO DOORS
Then you've probably got to consider some new clothing (wetsuit  ) but it would be lighter!

But then the simex tyres dump 3 tones of mud through the open window....... :?

Pahhh who need's windows.........i do
Ash i know how you feel, My rear tyres sling the mud straight on to the inside of the screen.
My front tyres sling the mud straight into my face, the rest lands on the roof

 You need wipers and washers on both sides of the windscreen
Door tops are useful in the mud, but the defender style double opening windows are an asset, when they black out now with mud, you can open one section at least you can limit the amount of mud you get in

I would go for One Ten doors with the tops on (you can always take them off, its only 2 bolts after all). Front and back slidy sections.
Advantages of a split door over a defender door are that
1)you wont get slapped in the face by tree branches with the window open.
2) No sticking out door handles to get damaged
3) You can change your mind on a sunny day
4) Much quicker to close/open
5) Less mechanicaly bits to go wrong/break
6) They are more iconic of a l/r than later doors 8)

I agree with all these points.

I have series doors at present and take the tops off most of the time
I think I need to be more selcetive though to avoid this:
-
yep, when i do compsafaris in the rain i normally do 1 lap without n see how it goes, last one had to put the tops on as it was the fine mist that was covering the inside o the screen
-
Yeah, think I'll stick with them and just be a bit more selective when I use them
-
I put 90 doors on my s3, to begin with I didn't like them, but now I much prefer. Having said that, in the summer when theres a hot day (all 5 of them) it is nice to take the tops off.
The way I look at it for amount of open space is:
Series door bottoms > Defender doors > Series doors with tops on
So it really depends what your fancy is, the 90 is the happy medium I find.
