:) woo hoo just picked up my glow plug upgrade set for the series 3 the instructions make it look really easy or is this a con lol the haynes book of mistakes has caught me out b4 with the "this looks easy" bit anything i should consider when doing it ?
Fingers Crossed that with these and a fully charged battery i can finnaly get her to start again

When we changed my plugs it was easy enough, just wire in in the same way the old ones come out, they only need about 10secs of pushing the button before they work, very good indeed.
Good Luck

8) woo hoo changed the plugs after a bit of fighting with the screwcaps to get the wiring off ive changed em all over and rewired it up..... put the "fully charged" battery back in....... jumped into "the cockpit" turned the key and woo hoo cold start light bam str8 away buring its little self out saying go on start me start me i dare ya lol.....
anyways ........... the end of it all now it wont even turn over on the key :(
should i be looking at starter motor next ?

I had huge efforts trying to start mine a while back. I replaced the starter motor with one off a freelander diesel, fits exactly, not sure if it goes fast enough, but it started the vehicle ok. How about a heavier duty battery and of course make sure there are no short circuits anywhere to drain the battery out.

so its been sat for a while?
does it make a clonk when you turn the key?
i think your right with the starter motor being iffy, or possibly its the solenoid ontop of the starter thats seizing

yup its been sat for at least 3 months now and no. no clonk when key is turned it does nothing, as if the battery wasnt connected
it was turning over and over b4 hand now the thing is dead  getting close to chucking it out now

Do the lights etc work? If not check if there is a current between the battery terminals with a multimeter. If nothing try charging again, if still nothing try another battery. If there is a current make sure all the connections in the wire are clean, check there is a current getting to the starter motor, maybe try connecting directly from the battery to the starter motor to see if that works (make sure you're out of gear of course!). If there is charge in the battery and its getting to the starter, and its a case of the starter is just not doing anything then take the motor off, clean it, test it, if still nothing then replace.

all the lights/elec systems work  but as u say the starter motor is next on my hit list im going to have a go at it over the weekend with any luck :? its just weird that when i bought the car all it would do is start and not drive i get it to go into gear and drive now the bleeding thing wont even turn over grrr
