I'm just about to do a deal on a nice looking 90 hopefully... I noticed the rear brakes on 90s seem to be drum. Can they be converted to disc easily?
I happen to have a discovery axle sat on my drive - are any of the parts any good for a conversion?

Buy a newer one. Mine is disks allround but the brakes are still ribbish.

Unbolt the current axle on the 90 and replace with the Disco axle currently on your drive... straight swap.

Part way through 'L' reg they switched to disks all round. Later 200's are therefore disks all round.

instead of doing the whole axle - can I just swap the axle ends? Got a feeling the 90 I'm looking at has new cases/pans and drive shafts etc.
is there also any brake biasing that needs to changed or be removed?

If I could afford one I would! Have you seen any for around £3000 - £3500.

You will need to change whole axle, you can get disco axles off ebalg for about £75, even a RR classic axle will fit and there are loads more about
You can use your old brake system.
I ended up using an entire disco system and its miles better
Bought 2 x 300tdi axles, brakes and servo for £100 and that included both 24 spline diffs, bargains galore out there!

picked up the 90, lovely (thanks tim).... reading through old paperwork and something about rear pads... hmm that's odd.. just went and checked and someonehas already converted them to discs - me is a chuffed bunny!

Mmmmm! This has got me thinking. Thanks chaps. :D

cant seeit being that difficult, but did wonder about bias valves and suck like that would normally be present in a dsc/drum setup..
anyway I have a disco rear axle here and most ofthe braking system if you need any bits.

If the offer is to me Matt, thanks. Bit far maybe. :D I've got some Range Rover axles though.
