Title: Safari Snorkel fitted
Post by: the invisible dog on January 22, 2006, 15:13:52
...and BigRed seems happy  :D

Fitted last night in the dark under a spotlamp and I'm glad it looks as good in the daylight
Not too difficult once I had acquired a rivnut tool (after finding out what one was!)
Tho', having hydraulic'd the one engine, not sure how brave I'm gonna be to test the new addition

The car looks great now.
Good work.

Hmm, rivnut tool.
Any chance of a borrow please?
I need one of them to fit my dog guard.

I'm not sure.
Phil appeared to drive it the water then stopped.
The hybrid series went in to rescue him and got stuck too
So both were recovered.
Phils car was off the raod for age's too.
Its great to see it back in action.
I'm sure Phil will tell the real story when he's back on line.

You can test it by covering up intake and see what level of suction you have.

Cheers

Steve :P

Foresters Farm is a great quarry site near Gerrards Cross, you can spot it from the M40
Quite small but plenty variety
A regular site for the Burnham club and the HORC, and plenty others

Had done the crossing to the island a couple of times before but this time the water was just that little bit deeeper
Without a snorkel the intake was below the water line and flooded in :(
Came to a halt with a clunk and knew it wasn't good
H's hybrid came in to pull me back but his had a seal leak somewhere and took in water too
Winches were put into action and H and I dived in, 'twas more than a little chilly
Got the hybrid going but BigRed's engine was a gonner so towed home to await the fix
Took a while to fix as homelife was in turmoil at the time and as the weather was good I used the motorbike most of the time so I could save for the new 200tdi
Great idea 'til I got knocked off the Ninja too
Still, gave me time to order up the engine and get that fitted  :)

So 'Red is back, the 600 was a write off but now replaced with a ZX10R   , and all is now good  :D
'Specially now I'm a Mud-Club'er too  8)

Oh yes, eventful year that

Busted knee, wrists and ribs and one hell of a concussion but all fixed up OK
Landy clutch was the perfect exercise to get the leg working again  ;)

Cheers for the photos, they are great
Catch you tomorrow...
