As you look at the rear of the vehicle, it goes on the left ISTR. I think it goes on the left as you look at the front too...
-
Can't tell you for the front as John's is a 2a with the plate on the bumper but the back is definately left as muddyweb stated.......see pic

On my 2A, the rear number plate is on the right.
-
My iia also has it on the right (drivers side) and that seems to be normal until very late in series III production!
-
Mine's a '63 2A (closer to being a 2 really) and both plates are on the Off side
-
put one on both sides, play safe

I have a book that shows loads of series 2's when they were new, and number plates are on the offside front and rear.

Thanks Guys
I will put them on the left side as that seems to be the the norm.
Thanks
Brian

When I got my Series 2a, it was a hardtop with a roof rack and ladder, the plate at the back had been moved to the right so as not to be obscured by the ladder..
It is I think fair to say then that the plate was proberly made to go on the left from new.
My front one is in the middle, so I can't help you there.
If you look at classic van's that might give you a better indication.
