Title: MOT question
Post by: beast5680 on January 30, 2006, 19:37:32: I know that now the Mot,s are recorded online etc Dvla know exactly who,s failed and who,s passed etc which is no bad thing, But a man told me today that soon the filth will be notified as well so they can flag up cars with no mot and nick them, also no bad thing for the dodgy people who dont have one now for the question
I asked if my mot was due in march and i got tested in feb and it failed in my mind i have a month to sort it before the mot runs out but he was saying that rumour has it dvla will flag it as failed leaving me open to prosecution by the old bill if i still drive it around

can anyone shed any light on this?

Post by: thumbs on January 30, 2006, 20:07:52: its still legally got an mot till march and you have got a certificate, thats how i would understand it anyway. will investigate further, neighbours a traffic cop, mates an mot tester :D

If so, the old MOT will be invalidated.

Post by: blackbob on February 04, 2006, 20:46:54: :D mot,s are only any good on the day of the test cos you could blow a bulb and it would fail the next day but you are responsable for the road worthyness of your vehicle so realy mot,s are a joke but better than nothing :D

Post by: Garin on February 05, 2006, 08:42:33: If a vehicle has failed it's MOT it is no longer classed has road worthy , and officially you can only drive it home from the test station, ,under the old system there was no easy way to check if vehicles had failed now that there is you can see which way it will go

A major concern for the new system would be the accuracy of the information on the computer, govt dept's have not got a good track record and it's possible that you could have your car confiscated because the comp says it's failed, the new system will cause more hassle for the law abiding than the illegal drivers who don't care anyway
